Was it ever produced? I know they produced them from 74 to 93 but wondering if there was a production or limited production or some sort of production or start in 72? is there a 73 Ram charger also?

No , nothing before 74 model year , there was a pre release run of 3 or 4 trucks in early 74 model year , (Sep of 73) they had a bed wall between the passenger compartment and the bed area and the cut door frames like the 74's

The marker lamp date means nothing. Couldve been swapped , or maybe they ran so many in 72 that they were still using those containers many years later.Trucks ran those markers through 80, a body through 76. Many others as well. Mopar was planning on using a bunch.

A glance at the interior tells you it's a 78 or 79.
Late dash. Push button vent window. Floor mount gas pedal. Only 2 years for that combo
The hood and latch indicate 1978.
It's a 78
The number on the lense means nothing other than the year that part went into production.
Example: A 1993 truck could have a 1972 date on the side marker, since that part was used for 21 years on many Chrysler products.
