'79 360 in a '81 Power Ram

'79 360 in a '81 Power Ram - 10/13/16 03:52 AM

I'm transplanting a '79 360 from a Ramcharger 4x4 into a '81 Power Ram 4x4 currently with a 318. Are the motor mounts the same? I figure the biscuits are, but I mean the brackets that bolt to the motor. I plan to set the motors side by side because I have to swap all the accessories over, but just trying to rule out the motor mounts so I don't have to remove them if I don't have to. I have new biscuits for them.

Also, will the headers from the Ramcharger fit in my Ram? My 318 currently has manifolds...would like to use the headers from the Ramcharger if I can.

Thanks!

It should bolt in place, if my brain is still working. Remember the 318 and the 360 are balanced differently, so keep the parts with the donor.

Though not too much different, there might be wiring harness differences, but that will be easy to overcome.

Left side m/m is different, the 360 mount is narrower. Just leave the mounts on the 79 motor.

just leave all 360 parts on said 360, drop it in, the holes in the cross member are in the same place from say 70-1993.

I stuck a 69 440 using 70 4x4 truck mounts into a 88 ramcharger and cut nothing! literally dropped in place, even the tcase, and tranny stuff was the same.
