'89 Ramcharger trans to transfer case seal

Ok, so I bought an '89 Ramcharger and I been have fixing a lot of things on it. Well, I'm in the process of fixing a pretty good trans leak, it is leaking between the trans tail housing and the transfer case. I got the transfer case off and there is a seal on the transfer case input shaft, and the gasket was there between the to cases, but there was not a seal in the trans output shaft. Should there be a seal on the output of the trans? It has the 318 and 727 with a 241 transfer case. It looks like it has been leaking for quite awhile now and the PO used a ton of RTV to try and seal it up.

I have a big trans leak in my 92 Ramcharger. Put it in reverse and it piddles out, but it in drive and it pours out, and when you turn off the engine it still pours out then stops in a couple of seconds! Someone told me it is the front pump seal, but I haven't looked at it closely yet. I will follow this post to see how it shakes out.

Yes there is supposed to be a seal on the output side of the transmission.

The chrysler number is 4269956AB or SKF 19211

According to my parts book, that seal is for the A500 trans. Anyway, I decided to not put any seal on the trans output shaft and I did replace the transfer case input seal since I had it apart. I also replaced the case to case seal and have not had any leaks for over 100 miles now.

It is the same seal used in both 3 and 4 speed automatics.
