Funny reading about body panel replacement on such a new truck? Out here in Northern CA rust really is not an issue. But when you have your ride parked outside and near the water that changes things. I live just over the hill from the Pacific Ocean beach and my 03 Ram has done pretty well! The trick is keeping them washed, and throwing them a little polish now and then.

Ours rust from the inside out, much tougher to battle. Road salt gets up in little crevices and eats away!

Got it! I know in the snow belt replacing oil, trans pans and other metallic items due to rust is not uncommon.

I looked at Gen 3 5.9 CTDs for about 3 months until I got the 07 I now have about a month ago. One thing I noticed in my search, is a lot of dealers are getting their trucks from auctions in Canada since they are a lot cheaper. I drove 4 1/2 hours to Redding California to look at a sweet 06 QC short bed 4x4. When I got there, the first thing I spotted was rust bubbles in the bedside wheelwells that didn't show up in pics. Something you just don't see here on the western side of the states.

Of course in my email tag with the salesman, there was no mention of rust or that the truck came from Canada. When I got there, I asked for the Carfax, and sure enough, it spent it's entire life in Alberta. Needless to say, I turned around and drove home after a valuable lesson.

I think with the downturn in the oil market there was a lot of cowboys getting rid of their 3/4 tons in Alberta. Add to that the low Canadian dollar it doesn't surprise me that dealers are buying these things up to sell. Not the kind of truck I would want to buy either.
