5.9 is a better diesel than the 6.7 because it makes a lot less power, pump a 12 valve up to 850 FT LBS like the 6.7 HO and they are no more reliable.

I can replace my gas burner truck for about the price of a good set of injectors in a diesel so I am not really the guy to ask though I suppose.

The 5.9 12 valve has earned a great reputation with no need to increase power over stock to cause problems IMO. That said, I'd pick the HEMI unless I was towing heavy a lot.

It all depends on how heavy you tow and how many miles you drive. If you don't put on say, 25K a year and you aren't towing 12K pounds you are probably better off with the 6.1.

I'm guessing you mean a 6.7 Diesel and not 6.1 Hemi right? Seems to be some confusion

Neither.

V10 or 6.4 Hemi gets my vote for what you're doing.

Yes, what engines are we talking about here? haha.

I like my 06 5.9 with a generic tuner, I'm happy with the power available, and I'm able to get about 20 mpg on the highway. Not bad if you ask me considering its a 7500+ lb truck empty, it's lifted, 4x4 drivetrain, and riding on big heavy 35" mud tires.

My mom just bought a '15 6.7 to tow her 5th wheel camper trailer with. She's getting around 21-22 mpg on the highway empty, so I think whatever issues they ran into when the 6.7 came out and everything got DEF filters etc. have been resolved/corrected. Her truck has gauges that I had to install aftermarket--Trans temp, boost gauge, etc. (Don't remember if a pyro was one of the options or not)
