318 to 360 swap/motor mount question - 12/11/15 09:38 PM

Trying to drop the 360 into my 318 D150 and no way the valve cover will clear the power booster. Are the 360 motor mount brackets shorter? If so who has them?

I've always just used the 318 brackets & mounts. You just have to add a spacer to the one ear on the left side. Never had any issues with a 360 clearing any thing where a 318 came out of. As far as I know, they are the exact same outside dimensions. Do you have tall aftermarket valve covers on the 360? Are you sure the mounts are on the correct side of the motor mount ears?
There is a difference between the 2wd engine brackets and the 4wd engine brackets. You don't have the 4wd brackets on your 360 instead of the 2wd brackets, do you?

Other then the width of the mounting lugs, 318 brackets look the same as 360 brackets, if they look different, one of the sets is probably a set of 4x4 engine brackets. Gene

Same mounts that were on the 318.Didn't sound right to me but I have not seen it for myself yet.

Tall valve covers are an issue on two wheel drive. The motors are the same, except the pan & DS motor mount. We put the small booster on the last truck so the MP valve covers would clear.
