07 instrument cluster problem - 05/27/15 04:13 PM

A friend of mine has an 07 1500 4x4. While driving, the warning icons on the instrument panel will come on, just like your first starting the truck. The gauges will do a full sweep and return to normal. This happens while driving. The truck has been checked for codes and nothing there. Can anyone give some insight??

It sounds like it loses power for a moment then comes back up. There probably won't be any codes because codes are erased from memory when power is cut. This is likely a bad ground or loose/chafed/corroded wire or connector somewhere. Look at the battery first, check the connections and wires, make sure they are clean and tight.

Also, maybe look at the B+ feed to the fuse box, make sure it's tight.

Was it worked on at all? Someone may have left something loose or disturbed a wire.

You might have to bring it somewhere If you don't find anything obvious. Have them try to reproduce the problem on a test drive and maybe monitor voltages that feed the cluster with a scan tool. Monitoring voltages might not tell the whole story either but it's a place to start.
