First Gen Cummins Wiring Harness - 04/04/15 11:12 PM

Hey guys,

Looking at a '91 W250 4x4 with a burned engine harness near the firewall. Not quite sure what happened. The truck is cheap enough to pick up and get fixed. The dealer doesn't show the harness being available, and there's nothing on eBay. Does anyone know where I could find a harness? Salvage yards around here aren't showing anything either.

You need to know if the truck is early or late 91. Early is non intercooled, late is intercooled. They are different harnesses and they don't swap. Nor do they swap with 90 or 92.
Used is the only way to get them. Or better yet repair yours and find out what went wrong. Any used harness is likely to need repairs anyway.

if you were putting the motor into a 72 chevy truck you would only have to hook up about 4 wires on the motor----i think you are over thinking the correct wire loom idea----you could use a gas truck loom---hook up the alternator---starter-oil pressure-water temp---hook both sides of the ballast into one wire to the injector pump solenoid----you dont need the grid heater in tucson but could easily run it off a push button switch----check with some 4x4 shops down there doing diesel conversions---it shouldnt be too hard---unless you meet the guy behind on his mortgage payments....bob

Check with Ellis's in Aurora Utah 435-526-3211

Does your have the electronic speedo and cruse control? My 92 does. If so you need the harness or swap to a mechanical speedo and a different cruse setup.
