4x4 axle nut torque - 10/11/13 03:43 PM

I' m changing out a front axle on my 95 ram 1500. Does any one have a torque spec for the axle nut and the bearing retainer bolts. BTW this is not a job for any one with a short fuse.

Thanks
Randy

180ft lbs. Do NOT use a 150ft lb torque wrench and think you can just click it a few more times. Broke my torque wrench and almost my nose when my face slammed into the tire.

Dodgefarmer, what size is that nut? I need to swap out the U-joints on my '01 in the near future, and I'm certain that I don't have the right socket. I guess I'd better be surveying my friends to see which one has a big torque wrench as well...

My socket is 1 11/16 from napa and I had to grind the outside to fit in the recess where the nut is. Was an 01 1500 4wd
