Dually tire ?? - 07/15/13 11:39 PM

My buddy has an 01 3500 quad cab Cummins 4x longbox dually. He needs new all season He is always on the highway and does a lot of towing. Also plans on buying about a 30/32 flatbed trailer. What are you dually guys running and what are you getting for miles on your tires?? tires. He says he wants some 60,000 mile tires. I chatted with my tire guy at my fav tire store. He sais it will be had to get that kind of mileage because the tires cant be rotated properly because of the alum rims.

I think he would beat me severly for suggesting retreads for his truck.. My old dually is a different ball game tho..

They could be rotated properly but you would have to dismount them each time. Try Cooper Tires. I build them for a living and they are good tires.

For extended tread life and good wear, get some commercial Michelins.

There's 2 guys on her that use/used them on 4wd Cummin trucks. Not the typical "retread" your thinking. Hp383 93 clubcab 4wd Cummins and Fastback66 78 Crewcab long box converted to a 4wd Cummins. Run them on my wife 2001 Ram 1500 4wd also. Had them on my 2wd Ramcharger too. Replaced the first set on the wife 01 at around 45-50k with 7/32nds left only because we have to travel 30 miles to work and live up a hill

I like it when people avoid Treadwright tires. It means there are more left for me, and keeps the price down.

And with the new bead to bead tire, there is no "old" sidewall rubber to worry about as well.

I guess since they are used on many fleet vehicles, and municipal vehicles, and the coverage in the truck magazines means they are unreliable or something...

Michelins are the best, but I cannot afford them, so I run Coopers or BF Goodrich Commercial T/A, I hate Firestones.

Got 80+ K miles out of my Michelin LTX M/S 2's on my 2500 Cummins. They're pricy but if you rotate them they will last a long time. And they ride ultra smooth. Worth every penny.
