Hemi Ram engine noise?? - 05/07/13 03:50 PM

A friend has a Hemi Ram that makes a noise sounding like a playing card in a bicycle spoke in the engine. He ran it with the belt off and the noise continues...any input...I know it's kinda vague..

Timing chane? Use a Automotive Stethoscope and you might hear where it is comming from.

Idle only? I've heard a lot of them that have what kinda sound like noisy lifters at idle, including my truck. On mine it's worse after an oil change.

Yep, lifters/valve train. My 2010 has always done it.

Oil volume is pretty important on the Hemi engines and alot of the aftermarket oil filters just don't cut it. Not sure if this is gospel...just passing on a tidbit from a conversation with engineering once.
