Need help loose 05 3500 diesel front end - 03/20/13 08:40 PM

Trying to figure out what's going on with my brothers 2005 dodge dually 3500 cummins. We've replace a bunch of front end parts and it still feels loose in the front end and actually makes a thumping sound that sounds like it's coming from under your feet while your driving it.
-new track bar
-new borgison steering box
-new borgison steering shaft
-couple tie rods
-shocks

Axle joints squeak

Next thing is ball joints, trailing arm bushings, and steering stabilizer. I think the consensus is that you've got to do everything after you start having problems. I would even look at doing the hub bearings.

The other thing to add is the steering box reinforcement.

Is this a plow truck? Any rust?

My 2000 Ram 2500 would do that when I accelerated from a stop until I replaced the pitman arm. Now it doesn't thump under the floorboard and it drives down the highway without wandering.

Is it a 4x4? if it is check the front leaf spring, rear bushings, and the pass through at the frame. Do the 05's still use a leaf front? I'm not sure now.

They have not used a leaf front since 1993.

Ah ha! OK I've not owned anything newer than a 93, so I wasn't sure.

A worn sway bar end link will also make a lot of racket when turning and going over bumps.

My 04 diesel has not had that problem but my 04 Intrepid did was a worn swaybar bushing.

Plow duty is extremely hard on this combo. If there's more than say 100K, I would proceed with replacing everything. I had to... I even went with a free spin kit to eliminate the POS hub bearings...

Yes. That's the spyntec kit. $1550. I found a dealer where I picked up so I paid no tax or shipping. It's a heavy kit lol.
I've since put on the center caps. I'll try to post a picture. I also did moog gresable ball joints and gresable axle u joints. I went from 2 to 10 grease fittings. Lol.
