If there the same garbage that our 02 had then it wont be too much longer before the boots start to crack and split open.

That'll just put grease in front of the ball and not behind/inside the joint where it needs to be.

Needs to be all around. if just on one side sure its good for that area but the area without is still going to wear faster and cause failure. Basically grease in just inequality spot won't really prolong the life. needs to be pretty much 100% of it affected to work proper

what do I need to do to prolong the life of my steering components?? I'm don't have the funds to replace items when they do fail... I don't have any issues with anything except some squeaks when I backing up and sometime when I making a turn from a complete stop..

I inject a little grease in all those fittingless ball joint and tie rod boots with a needle type grease gun. Especially when that boot is looking real flat. Grease may not get to the underside of the ball socket, but it's better than nothing. 2 or 3 times a year here.

you can add your own jerk fittings

http://www.saeproducts.com/thread-forming-grease-fittings.html

magnetize the correct drill bit
by attaching for 24 hours
two super strong button magnets
like the small rare earth ones
that can be bought in a six piece pack at Harbor freight.

http://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-rare-earth-magnets-67488.html

if you use a slow rpm speed drill
you can even leave the button magnets attached near the tip

If you wish coat the bit with heavy grease to further catch metal or paint shavings.

drill just a little at a time,
then clean and recoat drill

you may also want to magnetize the jerk fitting
to hold onto metal shavings

in my opinion
the threat from metal shavings
is far less than the threat
of water getting in the joints
when it is not packed with grease

DO NOT OVER GREASE
as you can do more damage
blowing out the seal
which will allow water and contaminants in

go slow with the pumps of grease
stop at just a hint of grease coming past the seal
