Disc brakes

Backing plates bolt on, drum fits over the studs on the axle, so, "yes". So I've heard.

I put those Cherokee brakes on my '99 Dakota. I had to drill the hats for 6-lugs, but all of the flanges lined up exactly correctly. I just had to open up the bolt sizes and wheel centers for my 9.25 rearend. Supposedly, you won't need to do any of that with the 8.75. I also didn't need to even mess with the proportining valve. It stops great!

I have used rear rotors from a IROC a pair of $12 caliper brackets 2 reman 78-9 G body GM calipers for the front & matching hoses I had to have .100 machined off the outer flange of the axles to fit inside the rotors it costs around $200-250 new parts & labor even less if you own a welder

I have done them with all Speedway motors parts that the Circle boys use
My next one I'm doing I'm going to use the clamp on bracket You can do the total trick look calipers & all for $300 or so pick your own offset on the rotors 12" brakes can be done for a little over the $300
Thats with vented rotors that won't squeak like the the solid ones do on the street

What car , truck, etc will fit on the back of the 1984 1/2 ton 4x4?? is there a cross reference that someone came up with?/ how did you guys figure this out? let me know before i do the back brakes on this 84 !!

I worked & managed a very large F body GM & musclecar salvage yard for 6 years
We built a bunch of low budget Hot Rods & fast street cars
We had a pile of different brake rotors The bolt pattern doesn't really matter You drill a new pattern or elongate what pattern you have

The composite rotors on the newer stuff 90's & up is a great place to look go to your local JY with a caliper or a tape & the axle or find your same axle there & find what's the closest match
I've done a bunch of low budget rear disc on just about every rearend made using salvage yard parts

get a set of rotors off of a late 70s Ford 1/2 ton 4X4..

they had disc brakes on the rear of early fords??

the fronts on some slid off & on on some years the later I think 97 & up Ford truck I'm sure would be an easy fit Just remember there's a good chance that what fits your axle will most likely have to be modified in some way or another to fit.
Using GM calipers is beneficial in that you can go to the parts store & get what you need cheap & you can get custom calipers for cheap & still go to the parts store & get brake pads to fit
If you want parking brakes you use 82-88 F body GM rears & hoses & cables
If you use any calipers newer than 78 they are metric lines so you will have to put the metric fitting on your steel line to use it just cut & reflsre
