Nothing to see here, move along...

Honestly, this isn't a good sign for the industry in North America.

Most of them are engineers as I understand. Back when Cerberus got their hands on Chrysler they layed off hundreds of engineers, when Fiat took over Sergio said it would take 10-20 years to rebuild their engineering teams again - and here is Stellantis laying them off again. Really not a good sign.

The good ol' Automotive industry is just a barrel of laughs! Some things never change.

The bright side is, being downsized is about the best possible way to be forced to move on, and when
given verbally as a reason for leaving, the story is super easy for prospective employers to confirm, google or whatnot.

DAMHIK.........20 years of this......

I spent 40+ years in the printing industry. Layoffs are just part of life.

Ford used to send out telegrams wink DAMHIK beer
Intel announced layoffs by filling the cafeteria with chairs ( no tables) having BS meeting and then you would go back to your workplace and wait to be called to a conference room. After the conference room you were led out the door by security.

Reached out to my buddy in development activity there, he said it's 100% gloom and doom, his whole department was gutted, they even ---+canned his supervisor... there is only him and one other guy flapping in the breeze and zero plans to make adjustments to workflow. I'm sending him every lead that comes my way.

I guess when you're not developing anything and don't have any plans to in the future, then you don't need any development people?

As if we need a reminder, there is only one actual Chrysler branded vehicle being sold, and it won't be long before it's considered outdated garbage
just like they all do with everything (right after they fix all the bugs with it, they throw it away.)

I'm guessing they probably expect to either hire people back again later, or farm out most of it to the supply base, or transition to europe origin parts in the scope of his activity.

Things sound really bad.
