Wonder if that T/A in the ad, still exists? Also I wonder what color it is.
Could be white, or Top Banana, or beige.

probably this car. I'd have to dig the brochures out, but the same car, same pics were used for '70&'71, just airbrushed the '71 grill on.

I've heard that before as well.
They must have airbrushed the front bumperettes out too.

Pursuit planes are what they used to call fighters.
Daytona rake is nose down for better high speed stability. Ever catch air under the car and have the nose lift at 100+, I first experienced it with my Dad in his 72 Buick.

My read on the "pursuit plane" comment was related to the similar design of the TA scoop and say a P51 underbelly air scoop, and the other similar aircraft being tasked with pursuit objectives.
Regardless, sure gives a lot of merit IMO that these features noted were market driven.

Yes and the P in P-51 meant Pursuit. The 1st squadron of the Flying Tigers were called the Adam and Eve's, after history's first pursuit.

The T/A scoop could, I guess, be compared to the P-51 scoop...
It's about the boundary layer, which of course would matter more at aircraft speeds, but has been applied to racecars as well.
In any case, the T/A street car program, as well as the other manufacturers', was about homologating parts, with a big side-helping of marketing.

It's plenty expanded, stupid vernacular is not worth learning, regardless of the time it comes from. I liken "Daytona rake" and "pursuit plane" to "murdered out" or "turnt" and other zillenial garbage vocabulary.

Or rear up to gain side pipe needed ground clearance, and call it a "Daytona Rake"?

Since those terms come from the WWII era, especially the pursuit mention, your ignorance is astounding.

Historic take on an old T/A ad. - 01/20/24 05:22 PM
Wonder if that T/A in the ad, still exists?
It does.
Also I wonder what color it is. Could be white, or Top Banana, or beige.
It is Banana. (Top Banana was used with the 1971 model year)

Does this car have the '71 grille...and painted front bumper currently, or does it have the chrome and bumperette's, and '70 grille...as in the first ad ?? 🤔
