Purple one? Yes, with crank windows.
Green with electric windows? ...not in the 2010 version of his collection.

That''s certainly a likable car.
AACA National 1st Prize with the radiator support blackout missing ? And without its (crappy) Inland shifter ? And '68 wheels & hubcaps ? Guess they need judging info.
Nevertheless, nice car, and @ $78K, seems a good deal.

" A lot of mopars at Jan.2024 Mecum!!"
I don't follow the auctions regularly.
Does "a lot" mean an increase in Mopars going up for auction?
Is that a good thing or not, and for who?
Posted By: rdrnr6970
Re: Alot of mopars at Jan.2024 Mecum!! - 01/11/24 10:31 PM
Hey JCC it means alot more mopars so we don't have to just stare at corvettes and impalas.lolAnd for alot people that can see mopars we've never seen and talk about cars we might want to get, what's cool etc..And if my wife and I if we ever have the means we'll try and buy a car in the future.Ive delt with mecum in the past with Steve Julianos memorabilia and they were decent people and a pleasure to deal with.

Re: Alot of mopars at Jan.2024 Mecum!! - 01/13/24 04:24 AM
The 70 hemi drop top cost that guy a lot of money due to inflation and auction rerun costs. I think it hammered for 1.95 and the big number is the house money added. Five years inflation is 20% going by the gubmint lie numbers, worse in reality. I know it’s a hobby and he isn’t hurting for cash, but yikes.
Values have had their ups and downs, and this Lemon Twist car sold at Mecum Indy in 2019 for $1.98M before heading to Kissimmee in 2022, where it remained unsold at a $2.1M high bid. Even so, Mecum has a higher $2.5M–$3.0M estimate this time around.

Re: Alot of mopars at Jan.2024 Mecum!! - 01/13/24 11:14 PM
Best one in the world, arguably, so it should bring amazing money. A buck-fitty-nine is very stout, but not insane, IMO.
As for insuring it, I'd think Hagerty would. May have to document the car, but they had no problem or questions with $50K value on each of my RRs.

what I mean is: The Mopar Muscle cars that went over the block at the auction (and sold) got for the most part strong prices.
I am talking Mopar muscle cars only I haven't checked anything else.
I can't see oany softening with prices coming down compared to last year.
Nobody knows what the future will bring but right now the market has shown strong sales.

Re: Alot of mopars at Jan.2024 Mecum!! - 01/14/24 08:14 PM
I watched most of the auction. Lots of cars had to lift reserves, many missed estimates. A slew of the exotics yesterday didn’t sell. The Ferraris were way under estimates and previous sales. This was a huge auction with more impressive stuff than I’ve seen at one place. Felt very much like people have seen the downturn over past year and were unloading before things get worse.

Re: Alot of mopars at Jan.2024 Mecum!! - 01/14/24 08:46 PM
To me, the fact that folks will pay up for excellent cars says the market for the top examples remains strong.
Second, bear in mind that a lot of auction cars aren't as nice as they look on TV.
Third, there are many reasons to sell, from asset reallocation to moving up-market (or down) to dis-satisfaction.

You can't price the top end of the market. The top 1-2% of any collectible will always be an outlier to the other 98%

If these collectors with EXQUISITE collections, have decided to sell off the collection, or a big portion thereof . . . what do they know that we don't ??? Are they getting out while the getting is good ??? Still able to get HIGH $$$$ for the cars . . . . what is coming that they see ?? . . . Also, the buyers of these HIGH $$$ cars - will they ever drive them ?? Or are they destined to be garage/trailer queens ?? . . . I haven't looked at my cars as "investment" (although, staring retirement in the face (soon??), the increased value wouldn't hurt if looking to sell some to aid retirement), have always had more fun driving them !! Especially to far away car shows . . . and even better has been the friendships made over the years . . . just ramblings from my frozen brain . . . .

And stating the obvious, only time will tell.

now I was curious if it is really true.
So I searched for Dodge/Plymouth cars buillt between 1966-1974 in the mecum Kissiemee results 2023 and 2024
This year the total amount of auctioned Mopars from the musclecar area was 160 cars.
In 2023 at the same auction a 173 cars were auctioned off.
So this year had LESS Mopar Muscle cars available than last year.

A bigger sample of years would be more informative here, and you are smart to verify the OP's title claims, but "A lot" is rather subjective anyway.
Maybe they just got more on air time?
And now I or someone has to verify your 2023 claims.
