Going thru some of my old car magazines from 1968 I see where Ron Mancini and Dick Landy were running 1968 Dart GTS with the 440 in NHRA Super Stock EA class. Maybe it skipped my memory but I thought
Chrysler didn't not factory install the 440 until the 1969 model year? Only 440 Darts in 68 I thought were done by Mr. Norm and how would they qualify as a factory super stocker?

There were 6 440 Darts built in 1968.

Yes, Chrysler built 6 440 Dart GTS's for SS racing apart from what they did for Norm. One is still racing, google Kyle Kohr...

Kohr's car is the old Charlie Allen car out of SoCal, IIRC.

You didn't need 50 to qualify as a factory build for S/S unless it was an RPO deal? Just wondering that's all. If so they could have offered a factory S/S package on the 70 Hemicudas and Challengers for SS/D

Well Mr. Norm had 48 (plus two, that's another story) made so in fact there WERE over 50 made...

Anyone have the VIN on Kyle Kohrs car? I am sure I took a picture of it at MCACN but can't find it. I believe the 6 built for SS/EA would be standard 383 Dart GTS VIN's LS23H8B...

I collect old drag racing magazines.Is it the Racing Pulse magazine from NOV.68?Cool mag has the Mancini Detroit BeeLeaver and Dick Landy 68 440 GTS darts in it.Very Cool!
