Which modern battery would look right once the caps & labels are added ?
The ones I see look a lot different than the illustration: ribs, recesses, handles, etc.

If WE did, it would be some guy on this forum making them in his garage - and they wouldnt be for $25 dollars..oh no. Europe and $25 buy them, the market is so small he's losing money and you'll pay more for shipping

So what color is correct for what year and application?

Did I mention that they supply the two decals also? (One for the top, and one for the front). I couldn't be happier!

So, if you buy a standard, modern maintenance free, black box battery to use as the starting point, what exactly are you screwing the caps into?

Does anyone know if these caps removable? Are they vented? This is a NAPA AGM.

I’ve been looking at the adhesive caps but don’t want to block the vents if that’s what those small holes are. If those caps are threaded, perhaps they can be swapped out for the threaded Mopar style caps, assuming the thread size is the same.

Nothing, they are push in caps, not screw in ones.

Re: Best $23 I've Ever Spent! - 02/05/23 04:20 PM

The reason I asked the question a few posts previously is this:

I bought the decal and adhesive-backed cap kit from the guy in Belgium.
Decals are nice - though they won't fool folks who know what the real Mopar batteries (embossed lettering) look like.
The caps require a battery with a flat & featureless top, which I couldn't find at the time.
I also bought the top cap from Year One and ended up using that on one car.
But the cap is wider than the hold-down, which was a pain to make fit.
For the top cap, the Duralast Group 24 was the best fit & least-inaccurate appearance.

So, I'm still wondering what battery was used for the illustration the OP posted.

I might be answering my own question with this pic.

Floyd, it looks like the cells need to be vented.

Who are you fooling with the expensive reproductions?? If you have one that looks original AND works, it's not original.

The ebay caps have a vent hole. Those caps on the battery that say vent do pop out and leave a push in hole.

You have that right, the last repro batteries were junk. I will take a lead acid battery any day over the mini battery in a case for a car to drive.

I bought the $23 kit and an off-the-shelf Group 27 Wal-Mart Everstart. I removed the handle, decals, and popped off the vent caps.

The red caps are a perfect fit for the holes, and do have small vents on top. Looks like the guy made them on his 3-D printer.

No, it won't fool someone up close that it is a genuine repop battery, but for the price and almost zero work I have something that looks like it belongs under the hood.

here's a Costco / Interstate group 27 battery

& no one is trying to fool anyone - is the $400 reproduction even available & will it out last the current company offering them? panic

Leave the stickers off and it would look more like the original.

I use a hacksaw & cut off the carrying handle brackets on my sons Neon battery other wise I wouldn't be able to use the battery cover.

Looks great. I just went with their stickers now thinking I should have gotten the caps also. I'm not trying to fool anyone just think it looks better with it saying Mopar than Everstart.
