Mopars are selling at Mecum today!

Superbirds,T/A challenger,R/T challengers etc...alot of mopars sold today!

Saw a few of those. Black on black 1970 TA, a B7 blue 1970 Challenger R/T and a Curious Yellow 1971 R/T.

Nice cars did you see the black T/A sold for 200,000!Holy makeral!

Rare color combo on a rare car = $$$.

It did look amazing.

The blue SuperBird 440-6 only reached 165k. I think it was a 4 speed too!

The thing about auction prices of course is: if you have nice stuff in your garage, it's nice to see appreciation.
If you're trying to put nice stuff in your garage, it's an arm & a leg.

But as I've said before, never underestimate the spending of a couple drunks in a weenie-measuring contest.

If you,LOOK at the car it is an older resto. Interior turning yellow, wrong pieces underhood. And that’s from looking close at the photos. In person it must have had more wrong. But a way to get in a car for less money.

A lime green hemi superbird sold for 775,000...the a orange hemi 69 hemi daytona sold for 750,000 ish.

The Repro Bee light goes for $ 29.500. Is that with fees?

I can't remember what the Repro Bee lights originally sold for. I know that I paid $ 225 including shipping for my RTS light from you.

$ 29.500 buys 131 RTS lights including shipping at the original price. Was that about 1/2 of your total run?

Wow. I have the Rapid transit one too. I just got it out of the box and hung it up in the mancave. I can cut a deal and let it go for 25k.

I can’t recall exactly, but I think I sold about 600 Bees and about 250 Rapid Transit signs. If only I’d priced them that high, I’d be sitting on about 18 million. Time to sell the tooling.😂😂😂

I should soon be able to retire. I bought a Hustle Stuff sign a couple years ago at the Nats.

One of my good friends has one of the ORIGINAL showroom wall Bees.

The sign was marketed as a 1970 original, with a production stamp of 1997 on the bottom of the sign. Around half the items marked on Monday as original, were reproductions.

People always say "bidders are drunk". I wonder how many have ever been to an auction and actually watched who buys. Most of the "drunks" at auction are with the guys that spend money. They're there for the party. Of course on occasion someone will get lit and bid. However, most of these cars crossed before 3pm, not sure how many people are hammered at that time.

So what where the reproductions sign selling for back in 1997

And what are those worth today for people that can see - NOT $29.5

I recall Floyd's signs selling for $375.00 about 20 years (+/-) at the Nats. They were much smaller size than the original signs, but very nice quality - nicer than the originals.

The Bees started out at $200 and the RTS at $225. Later runs of Bees were $250. As a last hurrah, I put together about 20 Bees and 5-7 RTS signs using left over parts and seconds. The price went up as they dwindled (the money went to a good cause - my 2-post lift😀). I would guess non-insane going rate bounces between several hundred to $1000.

I don't know about the 1997 date.

I bought my RTS light 1/2001 for $ 225, "Shipping and Handling Included."

At the same time the Bee lights were advertised for $ 210, "Shipping and Handling Included."

I would guess that to tool up to do something today, sales prices would be way more than $ 250.

The market today seems to be ruled by the flat panel LED backlit frames. That would be the competition and they cost very little to make and sell.

The embossed RTS sign that I have is one of my favorite car items, from a time before I found original period pieces.

I don't know how many people would really buy the embossed signs with the flat panel LED's at a much lower price point.

$395k for a white 63 split…not even a tanker. $1,000,000 for a Judge vert in coral yellow…….1 million.

The 1970 Ram Air IV GTO Judge Vert, if it is restored correctly, looks to be a great car. I can think of other things I'd do with $ 1.1, but for someone with money nice something to have.

Hemi Superbirds at $517 to $ 742. Kind of back to earth. Lemon Twist Hemi Superbird at $ 517, I can think of lots of things I'd rather have.

The Big Willie Daytona at $ 247.5, reinforces what a bad move it was to restore it that way IMHO.

Guess the wingcar buyers were waiting for the right car.

Haven't watched that episode yet, but I'm thinking that's the "David Spade Daytona".
Wellborn may have owned it at one time, IIRC, and I may have seen it long ago in SoCal if Otis Chandler (LA Times) also owned it.
That would be Small World Syndrome, but it's happened before...

While drinking my coffee I'm looking at the now 1.4 mil daytona from our small mopar library lol.The book is of the Otis Chandler car collection from 1996.Anyway it has beautiful pictures of his collection mopars especially this daytona,and chevys etccc...Well now I need to check our lottery tickets maybe we'll buy it..probably not it's still not worth it.IWe'd rather buy the Diamonte,RTS Roadrunner from the Steve Juliano collection..

When I bought my first Charger in 1980 nobody wanted these cars,and often people gave me sh*t for wasting my time and money on those old Dodges! Wingcars were always just out of reach of my budget! Now they are out of reach of evryones budget! lol! I tried to get a loan to buy an orange 440 4 speed Superbird from a local body shop/used car dealership,and the loan officer from the bank looked at the car and denied my loan application,saying that old Plymouth isn't nor ever will be worth $4000,00! I hope he was watching last night and choked to death on a cocktail wiener! It's great for the hobby that they turned out to be collectible.and desirable,but sometimes I really miss the days when I used to buy running driving second generation Chargers for $75.00!

I saw it at Chandler's place in about 1990. So before that.

Restored by local friend. Was at Spring Fling in 1998 or so. He sold it for well under $100K.

Uh ya…that was the point…a 383 getting hemi money.

The Chandler/Wellborn/Spade Daytona was definitely tan interior.
I saw the car at a car show when I had my white '68 RR: that would have been in the 1984-85 time frame IIRC.
I think IIRC that it was a 6,000-ish mile car, restored, and I crawled under it and likely took photos.
The restoration work was pretty amazing, and ahead of its time with inspection marks & such.
Chandler had another Hemi car - yellow Cuda convertible, white interior - and that may have been later, saw it at a different show.
He was just cruising it around like it wasn't anything special, just another nice car...

So THIS is the same Daytona then? (I took a few photos of it at the York, PA. NEHOA show around 1982-3. Here's another photo of it.

When I saw it at the York meet, I thought it was hideous. I never looked to see what the mileage was. My buddy Louie & I had driven all night trailering this R/T SE Hemi.

No one would have ever believed that someone someday would pay 1.3 million dollars for the car!
