GF and I were watching. I told her it was a $5K car at best. It was real rough when you looked close, but great to see a Dart on tv.

They rent items to use for these shows.

I'll agree but a little more tolerable than other uhh fantasy? TV LMAO twocents

I've often thought a good spin off would be what they supposedly get for some if the items they supposedly buy. That would really open the BS gates. stirthepot twocents beer

Friend “rented” some nascar air guns to the Storage Wars show. After they were “bought” in the show, he got them back.

I had an acquaintance that had a car for sale ('68 Cutlass), who was contacted by a producer for the Pawn Store show out of Detroit (whatever the name of it was). They saw his ad, wanted him to bring the car in and "pawn it" for the show, They would pay him the going union rate for the day, some cash for use of the car (the "rent" like auto mentions), and he drives it home afterwards. They told him the show wouldn't air for 6-9 months so it shouldn't affect his sale of the car, but he couldn't make their shooting schedule work.

You have to know the show is setup. Is anybody really looking to buy an original copy of Grimm's Fairytales in a Vegas pawn shop? I watch the show once in awhile because there are some neat pieces of history on there.

Not necessarily "fake" but definitely scripted. I know a guy who was featured on one episode, he submitted an item he wanted to sell and they gave him an appointed time to show up at the store when the film crew was there.

The gf always says they lowball people too.much. I asked her who.in their right mind would take something you want top dollar for to a pawn shop anyway? That's just silly.

I have seen items "found" by American Pickers brought in to the Pawn Stars shop. Coincidence?
