sample quote

The vehicle is equipped with something Dodge calls
the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust,
which works like a pipe organ
to pump air through a series of tubes to create an exhaust-like note that can project at up to 126 decibels,

end quote

Just what I need to test the official NIOSH app for sound level.

At least now you'll here it coming. That's a big issue with the electric scooters, you can't hear them but they're fast enough to kill you if you get hit by one.- and they like to hug the curb rather than drive down the middle of the street.

well ZOOOOOHOOOOHOOOMMMM - BAAAAAA......................[in my best fartpipe imitation. biggrin]

what got my attention was the line : "the car will recharge to 85% in 45 minutes while plugged into the "common" [?] community charging station...........
at what voltage is it being charged at ?
what is producing the charge voltage ? [and i'll bet my rotten old bones it ain't an extension cord from the mall or starbux the "community charging station" is parked in front of]
and what are you going to be doing while waiting the 45 minutes ?

Think they need to address the ugly looks before how it sounds! And get rid of two of the doors. Here is an idea, Use the current gas version body.

I thought I read you only hear it in the interior like this that has been available for years even before EV's: (I think I've posted this too many times blush wink )

I thought one of the many attractions to an EV was no evil internal combustion engine exhaust sound? So to appeal to the masses it DOES need exhaust sound? What's next a small gas engine to emit real exhaust- to further enhance the EV experience?

The hybrid model is the smartest way to convert to new technologies. That way, you have electric and gas. If one infrastructure goes down, hopefully the other is available. The jump to all EV-only is foolish.

The Chairman of Toyota is going around the world giving public talks saying this.

He is taking a lot to flak for simply telling the truth.

The new Karmas being tested last Wednesday at Willow Springs come equipped with the exhaust tone of a diesel generator.

I didn’t know about the Chairman’s message and I’m glad to hear it. Hopefully, so one will listen..

"The CEO said a lack of sufficient infrastructure will hold back EV adoption rates, which is a factor in its decision not to go all in on electricity.

“Toyota is a department store of all sorts of powertrains,” he said. “It’s not right for the department store to say, ‘This is the product you should buy.’”

Toyoda expressed skepticism that automakers will be able to achieve the California mandate that will effectively ban gasoline-fueled vehicles by 2035 and require a substantial portion of sales be EVs by 2030. New York said Thursday it would institute similar regulations.

“We have to look at the current price range and infrastructure availability and at what pace they’re going to be upgrading,” he said. “Realistically speaking, it seems rather difficult to achieve
.”

This isn't completely new. The current generation of Hemi Rams make vroom vroom sounds through the radio speakers to make it sound more powerful. That stupidity is one of the reasons why I decided to keep my 2017 instead of my usual biannual upgrade.

Two things I dislike the most in some cars is fake noises piped into the cabin and fake shifts with CVT transmissions.

Remember in the early 1900's when cars would make a neighing sound like a horse so people would think it was still a horse draw carriage?

Oh right, they didn't do that because it would have been stupid too. lol

I totally agree with you it's stupid, but not he first time it has been done.

The Volkswagon turbo's had a sound/vibration generator mounted to the firewall since the turbo and cat made the engine too quiet.

Yea Right! Next will be some smoke generators near the rear wheels for faux-pa smokey burnouts.
For all those phoney new car "gear heads" out here.
