Just got home from a trip up to the badlands. Ran across these relics I thought I’d share.

Went to look at one for sale decades ago, the guy said "put it in 4 low, it'll take all day to get to the end of the driveway but it'll also take the house with it"

Those are indeed cool.
They seem to bring big bucks at auctions, but I don't know if they're necessarily profitable to restore.

What do you think the bumper and winch weighs on those equipped? whistling

We headed up to Colorado Springs first. Did the truck up Pikes Peak, over 14,000 feet. We chose to drive rather than take the train. I did this in case we had problems with the altitude. There’s a train that goes up but you have to wait about an hour before it goes back down.

This is the view to the east where you can see Ft Carson and Colorado Springs

From Colorado Springs we went up to Gillette, WY. Figured be a good place to stay out of the tourist areas. First couple of days we ventured into SD. Mt Rushmore the first day.

We had planned to go see the the wild Bison but they had a big roundup that day and didn’t want to fight the crowd and also wanted to see the bison in their natural setting. We took a day off and hung around but the following day we went to Devils Tower. We got there mid morning and the weather wasn’t that great. The clouds cleared later in the afternoon.

As a note, when going to devils tower you have to drive through several small towns. Those towns turned out to be speed traps. Got a ticket for going 45 in a 30. Oh well!!

In 2016, I did the Badlands and going west visited Mt. Rushmore which had always been on my bucket list. thumbs
I plan to visit Pike's Peak one of these days.

The next day we went to the Custer State Park to see the bison in the wild. The pic is a female with several of her calves. She wasn’t impressed with me and charged me twice. I guess I pissed her off.

As a Wyoming native, I can tell you first hand that in Wyoming the numbers posted on the shoulders of the road are limits, not recommendations or suggestions! tsk
