MAILING TO JAPAN

MAILING TO JAPAN - 07/27/22 02:29 AM

Hi, I'm sending some armrests to a gent in Japan.

I seem to recall a fellow who was loading a shipping crate with a car with boxes going overseas. Is this person still doing this?

Japan Post is still F'd up in some kind of Covid shutdown, so hopefully you can find a commercial means of shipping stuff there. My wife had to get her Mom to send stuff to Canada via a courier as a commercial shipment, which cost a pile.

I think you're referring OzHemi who shipped containers to Australia? He hasn't posted here in years. Sorry, I've no idea how to ship to Japan.

My mom shipped small items over to there for years using USPS.

Your best bet is to contact your local USPS and tell them what you want to ship and if you have an approximate size of the package and its weight, they will let you know if it can be shipped and delivered. I just shipped a motorcycle part to Australia and the first person I spoke with at my local USPS told me that I couldn't. Then another USPS person overhearing the conversation correct the person, explained what could not be shipped and approved what I wanted to ship. She handed me a U.S. Custom's declaration for me to fill out, which I took home, filled it out and brought back with the packaged part. Less than ten days later the package was received in Australia, a 12-pound package and $96 fee. You can do the same with FedEx, UPS, and DHL, etc., USPS worked surprisingly well for me.

I have always shipped mufflers or clamps to customers in Japan via USPS - never a problem. UPS & FedEx is right out! But since Covid, all bets are off.
