I thought the barracuda was already found. And it was a 71 barracuda, the later changed the tail panel with taillights to look like a 72.

No '72 convertibles made, so, yes.

There was no 1972 Plymouth Barracuda used in the Brady Bunch. The original ‘71 was crushed - someone bought and saved the V.I.N. tag and fender tag. This looks like a hack job. Why even speculate about the car?

Not to mention te 1/2 pound of chew he had compacted in is cheek and rambling off in an echo chamber really didn't help the video either.

Barring a total hack job it would be far easier to modify a '71 convertible to appear as a '72, than to convert a '72 coupe into a convertible.

If the Brady family were to go for a ride in the video '72 they would need a jaws of life to open the doors to exit or employ the dukes of hazard method.

If you post on youtube i think you like to hear yourself talk. A quick web search would have proved that is not the tv car. What it is is a bad hack job! The tv car was made by Chrysler for the show "free advertising".

The guy in the video is going to need a replacement roof section.

This is correct, from the horse's mouth Richard B in MN.He told me he has them. The car was rusted in half and scrapped.

Re: Brady Bunch 1972 Plymouth Barracuda - 07/17/22 11:14 AM

Having a golden opportunity to very closely examine the mod squad 72 challenger convert back in the 90's...The 72 tail panel section was definitely part of the uni body from the beginning- the welds and the seam sealer which were untocuhed - the car was maroon at this pt -were closely inspected & compared to other 70 e bodies we had parked there, etc etc etc. Not an afterthought or factory redo. Rarefish was there and a bunch of others...he might not remember.

So the million dollar question about the 72 B'cuda and 72 Challenger converts- How were they built on the line and were they really built on the Hamtramack assy line or were they built elsewhere and tagged as Hamtrammack cars?

Don't forget that other very odd manufacturing deviations with E bodies have surfaced recently in the form the actual car showing up on the radar. Never say never...
