New $30m Drag Strip down under

Just letting you know that against all the trends nowadays there is a brand new state of the art World class standard 30 million dollar drag strip being built south of the city of Adelaide South Australia (previous home of Chrysler Australia) by a local business syndicate and State Government investment. Drag Strips were studied all around the World to settle on the best formula and to get it right the first time. It is being built inside a whole new Motorplex racing circuit called 'The Bend' and after years of environmental studies and adhering to local council regulations the hopes are it will be completed by this Christmas. Looks great. I don’t envy the drive times to get there from other Australian cities. Melbourne is over 400 miles, everything else is substantially further.
Even Melbourne shows quickest route as being over 8 hours drive. Ouch.

The Bend Megaplex is just over an hours drive from Adelaide, seeing we dont have any other operational drag strips in Adelaide it is a small price to pay. There are new hotels, caravan parks and camping areas at the track so a lot of people will go there the day before and socialise, bench race and stay the night for an early start. Perth in Western Australia which is the most isolated capital city in the World and about 20 hours from Adelaide gets a full participation at its drag strip inc several Top Fuelers at a meeting so distance is not an issue for us die hard drag racers.

Why can't we have anything 1/10th that nice here in AZ ???

We kept petitioning our politicians until they got sick of us then we were lucky to have a local entrepreneur who is a die hard race fanatic but not a real drag race fan but he realized that a drag strip had to be included in the new Megaplex. Our whole State of South Australia is five time bigger than Texas but we only have less than 2 million people so we are doing very well considering.

An update, First Top Fuel meeting will be in March 2023
