sometimes you find some nice stuff at yard sales.
a good friend stopped at a yard sale because his wife made him. he saw a 72 road runner grill and bumpers in the corner of the garage for sale.
i owned a 72 RR so he called me about it.
i stopped buy the next week after the sale was over. knocked on her door and asked about them. i found a almost new grill, ft & r bumper and rear valance.
the story goes, the widows hubby wanted special order a 71 RR but was way to late to do so. the dealership couldn't find another the color with the equipment he wanted so he ordered a 72 RR. he drove the car for 1 week but hated the look.so he had the grill, ft & r bumper and r valance changed over to a 71 and was happy. hubby tucked all of the old parts in the garage attic and forgot about them.
widow had a garage sale before she sold off her junk after she sold the house 30 years later.
the widow only wanted $100 for the parts. she was a really niece lady my mom knew her so i paid her $400 for the parts.
the parts were in absolutely mint condition. i ended up selling them for $3K

local yard sales, garage sales, Highway 127 yard sale, Highway 62 yard sale
- all great experiences,
and can be a kind of great therapy
to pull your mind away from a challenging present
into a “big picture” view of the past that is educational
