I actually am considering Walter. laugh2 But Django and Ryder are on the list. He rode in the truck over 40 miles of twisting turning roads without a hiccup.

Is that Walter from the truck commercial that thinks he's a dog? Actually a great and funny commercial. "Walter Nooooooo, he's a civil servant!!!!!!"

My Boston Terrier's name is Walter, suits him well!

Re: New puppy!! - 02/08/22 03:23 AM

Because it's a herding dog, and it WILL have herding instincts, I'd suggest a name that implies nipping at the heels. A specific suggestion won't come to me right now, but I'll chime in if it does.
Nice dogs though. I think he'll do well in your pack.

What a cutie !
I generally name animals after their dominant personality trait or uniqueness.
But sometimes they remind me of a character, and that sticks.

He is currently trying to break in to the dog food storage bin. That didn't take long.

Bandit ?

I had a Border Collie as a teenager.
Natural herder.
Would herd horses over to the horse trailer with no training whatsoever.

My younger brother had a Sheltie for 14 good years.
She would even try to herd butterflies !

Nice looking puppy...reminds me of our Border Collie. Border Collies are great...high energy. The gentleman that helped train ours for cattle said that "if they don't have work they will create it" I have found that very true over the 16 yrs. we have had Daisy. At about 14 years she started slowing down and we go forward now on a day to day basis. Here's a pic taken 2 yrs. ago of her "creating work" helping the Wife shuck corn:

Yeah we know all about that, we have a Catahoula Leopard Dog as well. Hoping they will compliment each other and wear each other out. The Catahoula is always on, no off switch. laugh2

Our female Catahoula has claimed him as her own. She doesn't let him out of her sight and will not let another dog near him. She is very protective of her new boy toy. laugh2 I hope it doesn't progress past this so keeping a careful watch on the situation. Catahoulas are well known for their OCD possessive behaviour.

There was a very skillful electronics tech in Durham NC who was a Django Rhinehart fan
and often had his music playing softly in the background as he troubleshot equipment.
He swore this helped him “get his mind right” to track down problems.

Maybe Moparts needs a thread....
music to solve problems by?

Re: New puppy!! - 02/14/22 03:06 PM

The name will be best if you come up with it.

You’re in for a treat. Border collies are astonishingly smart. They learn tricks so fast, are loyal and obedient to the core and love making their masters happy. My BC’s name was Hannah. Such a fun dog. Be ready to play. They are energetic and need to run. Their ability to run down and catch a frisbee no matter how hard you throw it is insane.

Well he already knows Django, I've given him Booger Bean for a nicname, probably should have just named him Bob for short. He is very smart, catches on extremely quick. Our Catahoula has taken over as his body guard, we are really glad they get along so well.
