Year One "processing" & shipping times

Year One "processing" & shipping times - 01/11/22 01:56 AM

I think Year One should change their name to One Year... That's about how long it takes to get anything I order from them.

It's not just a result of Covid either, this has been going on for decades. I ordered a single dash speaker 12 days ago, I still don't have tracking info. I can't think of any other vendor that takes so long to process / ship an order.

Of all the possible reasons to NOT buy from them, that one is minor.

No matter what they have that I may want, I'll either find what I want elsewhere or go without. twocents

As someone who's been selling them parts for almost 30 years I can say that sometimes the problem are with their suppliers.
They don't make parts, they buy them from vendors and sometimes (especially lately) the supply issues are caused by the vendor being out of the part or the materials to make the part.

They buy the aluminum 4 speed shifter mounting brackets from me that I've been reproducing since about 1992.

They usually order some after the 1st of the year so I contacted my casting company in early December and was told it would be at least 6-8 weeks before I would get the casting from them to machine.
Usually it's just a couple weeks to get them from the casting company. shruggy

If they make an order (Year One), I'm at the mercy of the casting company right now.

I've never had any issues with ordering parts from Year One, though it's been a few years.
And with all the supplier issues going on over the last year and a half, I expect every parts vendor is having issues right now.
We'll be lucky if some previously available reproduction parts don't become permanently discontinued due to all the problems.

I would love to see Year One continue and improve. The more resources we have for parts, the better off we all are as car enthusiasts. On top of that I'm sure they employ a lot of people and American jobs are important. I just cannot believe after all these years they continue to be so slow on processing orders. If something is "in stock" than it shouldn't be a three week ordeal to get that item anywhere in the lower 48.
