infolinks... - 01/08/22 01:26 AM

I've been a member here for 14 years. In that time I've made some friends. Benefited from great information and from the classified ads. In more recent times, I find myself going to other forums and bypassing this site. I hate to be that guy. I hate to be yet another voice complaining but infolinks has ruined this site. It's so frustrating trying to navigate this place with the constant pop-ups. And I know what some will tell me, "don't like it!? there's the door, leave!" Well, that's what I have been doing, mostly. So my question is, does the revenue generated by infolinks offset myself and perhaps others not coming around as much if not at all?

I use AdGuard and the problem is solved. It also blocks all YouTube ads👍

This site has become a ghost town. Take a look at the first page of this forum, it goes back to last Thursday, 9 days ago. Too many niche pages on FB for a place like this to survive. I get it that pop-ups pay the bills but it also drives viewers away.

95% of the time my ad blocker built in to my home network and Malwarebytes blocks Infolinks successfully on my desktop and laptop. But not all of the time.

If I try to access the site via my iPad it is close to unusable.

Regardless of how easy it may or may not be to use ad blockers some folks don't want to use them and just go elsewhere. This robs the site of traffic and the users the knowledge of those who have quit coming.

I have no problems with advertising. It just needs to be done in a way that is not disruptive to the use of the website.

I go to other sites that use Infolinks and while I see the ads I am not playing "whack-a-mole".

What is saddest is that the owner(s) of Moparts don't seem to give a damn.

It costs money to run this site.

There is the right way to embed advertising into a site, and a wrong way. With the ire this thing has stoked from members, especially those whose complaining is out of character for them should tell you everything you need to know.

...and the only thing someone should be required to have to efficiently browse a site is an updated web browser. Having to rely on an adblocker to make it navigable is bad web design.

I installed adblocker, (it's free) and haven't had anymore infolinks problems. No big deal...

I posted before a while back that I visit several other sites that have popups (none as many as here, just saying). They offer that you can view for free and have popups or you can pay a small annual fee and have no popups PLUS you get perks for special discounts from advertising vendors and more. I got shot down on that. Don't understand why as it seems to be the best of two worlds getting $$$ from the popups source plus getting possible an equal from longtime or new members. I have a good ad blocker on the PC but not on the phone so I quit coming here on the phone frown Tell me again why free with popup ads and/or the option to block ads, get special perks, be recognized as a loyal supporting member of one of the best longtime Mopar websites is a bad thing? People rent movies for way more than what the ad blocker fee is on the other sites plus no perks for renting a movie wink

I use adblock plus on my PC and I use the DucK Duck Go BROWSER on my Android phone. The Browser is different than the search engine in that it has a built in Adblock.

It keeps infoseek at bay and I never even notice it.

I realize it costs money to run the site, and I am thankful that Tom has this site, but I agree that maybe a different method other than infoseek would be a good idea.
