Fed Ex

Fed Ex - 01/03/22 02:25 PM

I have used Fed Ex exclusively for years for shipping large packages since I started selling off my spare parts. Friday, I shipped an oil pan to California. I had got an online quote from the Fed Ex website as I always do to provide to the buyer. The quote was $43.80. When I dropped the package off at out local Fed Ex branch, the girl tells me the total is $50.82. I told her the Fed Ex website stated the cost at $43.80 to which she insisted it was $50.82. So I went ahead and paid it as I promised the buyer I would ship the pan that day. Went back home and got back on the Fed Ex website to see if I made a mistake in entering the shipping data which I didn't (which also was the same data on their receipt). So, I just called Fed Ex and explained the situation to them. The clown on the other end tells me that the online quotes are just estimates and not to be taken as fact. I explained that I had gave the purchaser of the pan a price of $43.80 for shipping so now I have to eat $7 because of this, He says there's nothing he can do about it. I have shipped many packages with Fed Ex over the years getting quotes online prior to shipping and they have always been accurate. Now he's telling me that the online quotes are just estimates? What's the point of getting a shipping quote then? Fed Ex just lost another customer.. mad

The same thing has happened to me. Even after shipping from my account after the package was received the price was more. I have called on about 4-5 packages and they refunded some of the add on cost. Some extra's were sending to a business and them charging me for rural residence. Good luck Fedex, I now use USPS or UPS

Try prepaying online and just drop the package off. They gave me the excuse about it being cheaper online if you have a account and that was why there was a difference in price.

That's what I do. They have your Credit card on file and just add on after the package is delivered.

Just make sure you round up on the measurement and weights or they will make the adjustments to the CC for the final costs. I honestly hardly use FedEx anymore because of the all the hoops you have to jump thru and their poor customer service.

I mainly use UPS or USPS, but the online calculators almost always differ from the actual price.
Most expensive is at the local "pack & ship" place, so if at all possible, I hit the local UPS store & PO with the package before quoting the buyer.
A couple of times I've shipped something cheaper at my nearest PO than the one in town, which would seem impossible.
Even weirder is when the USPS online calculator quotes higher than what that cheaper PO charges me.
In the end, it almost washes out, and I just can't get too bothered by a couple bucks...
Main thing for me nowadays is to clear my shelves, get a reasonable price, and have a happy buyer.

Geez, the way some of you go on I can only wonder how you'd act if you had to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery.

It isn't the wait. It's when FedEx changes the address they have been given to something else and when they deliver my package to that address........and then cheerfully tell me I have to file a claim because they caused the problem in the first place....did I mention I hate FedEx? And please don't tell me that I should correct that. I have spoken with both FedEx directly and with the USPS (I find most shippers use the USPS database). It may, MAY, be getting better as the last two FedEx shipments (FedEx chosen by the vendor, not me) actually got here.

I thought that happened to me once, turns out I put the wrong address in. It was an invalid address as well and FedEx called me to say [censored]? We got it sorted and I got my package. Since it seems you didn't ship the item how do you actually know who screwed up the address? In my case I was able to go back to the order info and see where I put in the wrong address, it was my home of 18 years address too, so stuff happens. Even in the case of you putting in the address correctly when you ordered it who knows how the vendor inputs the address for shipping.

Fed ex always back charges me for being an inch off even when I round up... Id like to see the stats on how many get added fees.

When I put down 706 10th St NE on the order form, the vendor's invoice shows it being shipped to 706 10th St NE, and FedEx delivers it to 706 10th Ave NE, you tell me what happened. Especially when I finally get the package it's addressed to 706 10th Ave NE. There's only three entities in this transaction, me, the vendor, and FedEx and two of the three got it right.

fedx sucks, i bought 4 tires on ebay that were shipped fedx that they lost for 2 weeks and then found, i bought another set mean while, i want to return ebay tires but the seller wants me to
send them back fedx because they are the only outfit approved to ship tires, i dont want to because now the grief and endless emails and calls to find the tires will start all over again, i put them on craigslist to sell instead. DID I MENTION FEDX SUCKS!
