I was just reading a short blurb somewhere that they recorded wind speed of just over 300 MPH - highest ever recorded. So F-5+.

And just saw this morning that an Amazon warehouse in Illinois collapsed trapping many inside. Wild weather all over. Stay safe everyone.

Got an old friend in Kaintuck (as he calls it) - trying to find out if he's OK.
News said tornadoes also hit Missouri & Illinois.
And here I was gettin' kinda pissy about our snowstorm...

My brother in law's sister lives about a 3 minute walk from the edge of the devastation in Mayfield. She and her family are fine, and their house has no damage. She described it to him as the loudest sound she could possibly imagine.

Weather sure is getting WILD. I used to travel for work every other month to Georgia and Alabama a few years ago. EVERY time I flew into Atlanta and then drove over to the Birmingham Alabama area there were MORE tornados that had ripped through there. And driving back to Atlanta, any time it rained it rained HARD and there would be inches of water on the roads. I know its not Kentucky, just saying they weather is more extreme all over the country.
Rained like hell here in SE Michigan last night. I just moved to an island. Past few years there's been historic water levels in the lakes around Michigan. Hope the island stays above water
This is a picture of looking out the front door towards the garage this AM. Never saw this much standing water.

It got a little hairy last night for sure. Whatever hit BG, whether it was a tornado or winds, missed my Moms and my in laws houses by less than a mile. We’re a few miles away from where it happened but heard it. No power going on 12 hours now.

We were a bit north of the path between Mayfield and Kentucky Lake, and lucked out. I've only seen pictures and video, as officials started limiting traffic in affected areas this morning, especially Mayfield. One of my coworkers lives in viewing distance of KYLake. His house and his neighborhood were flattened, he told me by text. I've seen up close the damage from a F1-F2 funnel, several years ago in Southern IL. Just in photos and video, this is MUCH worse. The power in these things is hard to believe. It's not just the wind speed they generate, there is so much shear, from changing angles, plus lift near the base, and so much more. It's difficult to design something to withstand one, if it's not buried.

Anyone talk to Holley or ATM. They are both in Bowling Green.

Drove thru BG late yesterday afternoon on the interstate, no obvious impact.
The Vette factory and museum are right there off 65, enough damage you’d think passing drivers would notice

Actually I looked right at the Museum intentionally, but from ground level, and noticed nothing askew while driving at 70 mph.
I do admit as being a Florida resident for over 60 years, usually traces of recent hurricane damage often begins to be apparent maybe 25? miles from the center of a storm, whereas with a tornado it can be measured in mere yards, which really means, my original observation here is in general, I admit, was rather meaningless.

Not unlike all your other posts. And with similar grammar.

The tornado came through about 20 minutes from me and about 1 mile north from my daughter. I took my generator to her house and hooked it up yesterday morning after I got off work. My son in law sent me a message while I was sleeping yesterday to let me know the power was back on.
I have friends who have lost their houses and most of their personal possessions. It's heartbreaking to see the videos, photos and hear people's stories. If you're sleeping in your own bed, count your blessings, many here aren't and won't be for a long time.

Yes, a valid point, especially for those readers with small minds.

Which mind would be smaller? The one making the mistakes? Or the one noting them?

Re: Kentucky tornados - 12/18/21 03:18 PM
That one was too close for comfort. If you are familiar with BG, it tore the hell out of the place, mainly in subdivisions, 68/80 coming into town from the West, and the 31-W Bypass from the WKU roundabout to about the Scottsville Road intersection. It touched down a couple of miles from my house out in the sticks.

He did declare it a disaster, near immediately. My wife says SBA disaster assistance is already starting to see some claims from it. They went from a 6 day work week to 7 day, this week. They wanted to go to an 8 day week but arithmetic got in the way...She turns 66 today and is working a short day, only 10 hours, tomorrow starts mandatory 12 hours. We're getting too old for this...
