But it still annoys me when I find clean, low mileage ones in a JY. flame 1993 with the V6 underhood and it had just turned 73K miles. Left fender had a dent above wheel that looked like it could have been done at the yard. Aside from surface rust, zero rot anywhere, clean interior. Dash wasn't cracked, still had the factory radio in it. Heck, the headliner was even still in it. The JY didn't even bother to take the keys out of it. Probably came from an Estate and they just wanted it gone. Almost 7 yrs later, I still miss the '93 I had.

With a Macco Paint job, she would have looked pretty good.

That '93 is gonna have the 3.0 oil burning valve guide dropping Mitsu between the seats. And lets not forget the 604 Ultradrive 4 spd trans too. replaced 2 of them back in the day.

I have my parents 93 Plymouth Voyager that my mom wrecked a couple years ago, she handed me the keys and quit driving at that point. I saw a 94 Voyager with a perfect front cap in the local junkyard but when I got back home 2 weeks later it was already crushed. I would love to get the parts to fix their minivan and put it back on the road. It still runs and drives, but needs a radiator, hood, fender, and complete front grille and bumper, the one in your picture would work just fine, too bad you are too far away to get parts that are not worth a lot...

It's strange seeing stuff like that looks like it could be started and driven home sitting there amongst smashed junk. Usually its there because the engine is seized or the transmission is shot and they decided not to spend any money on it and just let the yard have it.

That was part of the reason why I liked the one I had, it didn't have those issues being a 2.5 4 banger and 3 spd.

20+ yrs on, there's still no real fix for the V6 and 604?

It did look like it could be driven out. The only thing missing that I could see was the battery.

If I had not been having heat stroke, I would have thought to grab the VIN and run a carfax on it out of curiosity.

Chrysler Corp minivans. Great vechicle. Can't imaging not owning one. Sad that 2020 was the last year for them. Bought one and thinking about buying another.

First one we had was a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager. It had the 3.3 V6.

Every time I go to the lumber yard and I watch guys trying to put stuff in their trucks I chuckle a little and think,,,you should have bought a minivan......

So, for the sake of important historical mileposts,
I have to ask:
Which year Chrysler minivan
had the easiest to remove dashboard to get at the AC evaporator coil?

Your post brings up an interesting point. I am a rebuilder here in southern Illinois and attend the insurance sales almost every week in St Louis. I see things like that van ever so often. A little older, but solid unit that is ugly for some reason or other. It might be a donation or it might have some cosmetic damage. And I get calls all the time from folks that are looking for a dependable vehicle for a modest amount of money. BUT! They want something pretty. Something that doesn't look like they don't have any money. They would rather spend their money on a shiny unit with 200,000 miles, than an ugly unit with 80,000. So, I just don't bring them home anymore.

Champagne taste and beer budget.

And we have used Mopar minivans for 20 years to haul parts and tow the vehicles home on a dolly. One van has 240,000 miles on it now. It is about to rust in two, the headliner is just about down around our ears, but it only goes through a quart of oil between oil changes, averages 20mpg, and is comfortable to drive all day even when towing. I never liked the 3.0 in the vans for this job. But the 3.3 and 3.8 are GREAT engines.

I really like them, just hauled home a 383 long block that was on an engine stand, rolled the stand up under the rear end and unbolted the engine from the stand, just let flop down on the stow and go seats that were in the floor, no issues! Also brought home a complete 426 Hemi in December of last year and put it in the side door, drove 1000 miles home with great ballast...LOL

The Labaron vert my wife had and loved had the same drive line.
Ran well and was never trouble.
Only thing that needed done was bar on reat end weld cracked. It was known to just cut them off and be done with the part.
Was the last year they made them. Red black top gray seats.
She loved the top down.
Sold it for good money almost what we paid after many years use as was like new and still ran well.

The 93 could of had either a 3.0 (junk) or the 3.3. We had the 3.0. It was worth next to nothing at the time when I traded it in on a new car. The market was flooded with used minivans at that time. Even though it was my wife`s car I really did like driving it.

I worked regular in South Mississippi and would hit a few yards on the last days of a projects as was just punch list.
So would hit the junk.yards and You Pull It.
Almost every time at the You Pull some one would ask for tools or help.
Since I did not want to loan tools that may be abused or walk away I would help or just take it off for them.
Almost every time the car the parts came off of was nicer than the one they had in the lot they were buying parts to fix thet came in.
Down in the south no rust zone down lower income persons keep stuff on the road way past being expired.
I once had an older lady ask me to help get used super refills out the wiper arms as she was down on her luck money wise.
I had her follow me to the auto parts store and bought her some some new ones and some car stuff and gave her some cash.
You would have thought I gave her a cool million

I miss that job as I liked walking the yards even if just a look see.

The 3.0 wasn't bad after fixing the valve guides, t-belt, etc. The 604 could be fixed(we had a local guy that had those down pat). I could have a 604 on the floor in about 30 min and pulling those 3.0 heads we did blind folded(shop I was at did LOTS of both!!) Evap cores....not so much. Ugly job! We did them..... but usually put myself and the boss on them just to get them out the door. Typically about an 8 hr job.....we knocked them out in about 4. Shop made lots of $$$$ fixing those minivans!

Back in the day, I had a turbo '89 minivan. Had it pumped to about 250 hp. Surprised a lot of Mustangs. I rode around with a 440 strapped down in the back for about 4 months. A cop stopped me and thought the 440 was driving the van.

Regardless of 3.0 I still hate seeing it in JY before it's time. It bugs me and even the 3.0's I think with proper maintenance can run and run unless beat on.

The one I had was fine the whole time I had the car. But I take care of my stuff
Here's the engine bay in my 2008 Honda Civic 2 door coupe that my wife loves so I treat it better than some do their classics.
Yes I have the hood bumper where the red paint shows through. I knocked it off while checking fuilds and doing a,quick cleaning, tget just push in so pop off easy. Silly snap together cars.

Didn't think to check, but it didn't smell like resin and limburger, so I'd have to say no.
