Stephens Performance down hill?

Stephens Performance down hill? - 05/06/21 11:54 PM

Back in the early 1990s I ordered a bench seat from them and all went well albeit a tad pricey but no complaints. Fast forward to today. I called about some clips for the wires of the horn and headlights
that attach to the radiator support. The lady told me to call back tomorrow and I told her I'd send an email with pics of the parts I needed to help them and she seemed to think that a good idea. I called
back the next day and of course no one knew what I was talking about so I told them what I was looking for and that I had sent the email as well. They told me to leave my phone number and they would
call back and naturally they didn't call back. I am not going to beg them for my business. Anyone else have any issues lately?

i don't doubt it. went to ich swap to pickup a hood for a 67 dart from them. they brought 3 hoods. all were damaged and best they could do was 50.00 off. and another guy got the last bulge hood for 71-74 rr and it looked like they dropped the hood off a 5 story building. comment i heard they made to guy was oh well sorry. i liken them to year one. when both companies started out, products and customer service was great. yo had mom and pop shops making stuff for them. fast forward a few years and yo told most of the m/p shops to take a hike or gave them the old sam walton speech. this is what i will pay and if you don\'t like it ts.

I've sold Ted some 440 warranty blocks and horse traded for some stuff, got AMD from him the last couple years and it's all been fine, including earlier this spring. Sometimes takes a couple days but then he emails from his iPad late at night. My experience at least.

If you want to buy AMD parts, they’ll love you. Otherwise, the cars in their junkyard are not much of an interest to them these days. Stephen will throw on a smile if you’re a camera crew from PowerNation TV.

Wanted to buy some body parts from them years ago, pricks wouldn't even bother to send me pics of the parts and told me I had to take their word for it. Told them to piss off.

Ted and Jackie have been wonderful to me for nearly 20 years, and most of the time I didn't even buy anything. Always seen them at the Spring and Fall Fling car shows at CPW Van Nuys meet. The AMD stuff has save the mopar community. I buy stuff from their stalls cheaper than to ship it in. When they would buy parts from me, they were always nice and fair and enjoy talking about the old days on stuff. Sorry the OP had an issue with an employee, but at least they are better than others that have been discussed here. Yes it's easier to sell new parts compared to old ones, especially if you don't a perfect part that everyone wants for cheaper than Pick n. Pull yard price. Good used parts are drying up and whatever is around is usually too big, damaged, expensive to ship or stuff not worth pulling off a car and most folks give up. It was smart of them to team up with AMD. If they make to Fall Fling this year, I'll probably end up with another truck full of new parts going home. Heck, I even have a list of recomended parts they can give to AMD to see about producing.

I bought an AMD rear window from Stephens for my project Charger......then the BS jerkoff city officials cancelled the 2020 Fall Fling where we had planned to meet up. Ted made sure to ship it to a fellow AMD dealer within a couple hours of me so I could get it. I'm in Northern CA, Stephens is in Alabama. I call that decent service.

He did the same for me and got the shipping cheap too. Also got my 72' Roadrunner quarters for half price when AMD offered discounts for discontinued items. Still saved me over $600.

So essentially they are happy to sell AMD body panels. Anything from their massive junk yard, not so much.

Correct...easier to let it rot & just sell Chinese parts.

I wonder if they are selling some of those cars (VIN's essentially) along with all the AMD metal to put it back together? Not a bad business plan these days to be honest.

I don’t believe so for the cars that are rotting in Alabama. However, looks like he’s got something going in California: http://stephensperformance.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=28065

I know that yard, I I know the owner. Might be he's helping get some mopar cars out there.

My wife and I stopped at their junkyard in Alabama a couple years ago, since we were on a trip to Florida, so it was on the way. Ted and his wife were very cordial to us, and pleasant to talk to. I bought an A body Tuff wheel adapter that day. He had no idea I was coming, so I just walked in the office, and asked if he had one available. He sent out an employee to the yard, and about 10 minutes later, it was in my hand, and it was priced reasonably. He and his wife even gave us suggestions for some good restaurants to check out, in the area we were going to in Florida. up
