Tom Lembeck is putting some of his cars in the mecum auction, including this fabulous 71 Hemi Cuda convert. I'd love to be the final bidder and own that car, but it's way above my pay grade. drool

I saw it a couple times at Mr. Lembecks parties, and I covet it.

Any commentary on the car? What do you all predict for a high bid? These things come up for sale so infrequently, and this one is high grade. Auction prices have gone through the roof on rare, desirable, quality cars lately. I'll predict a new record of 6.3 million! twocents

My guess is that it will bid up to whatever Mecum shills it to, doesn't meet reserve, and will be back on display in the "cuda lounge" in Chicago during the 2021 MCACN afterhour party!

School me on roughly how much money has been spent to get that car in its present highly restored condition?

Re: 71 Hemi Cuda convert going to auction. Predictions? - 04/20/21 12:21 PM

I know Tom casually, and have been to parties at the “cuda lounge” a few times, but don’t consider myself to have any inside information on his cars.
However, I think he bought it in the late 90s and the price if memory serves was $350,000. I believe the car has been “refreshed” over the years, but I don’t think it’s been through anything approaching a ground up restoration. I doubt he has even $500,000 tied up in the car at this point, so he’s not at risk of ever losing any money on it if it does sell! grin
