Some years ago I was exiting a highway and while on the turn a red tail hawk clamped it’s talons into a pigeon it was pursuing literally a foot away from my windshield...I just followed the ball of feathers as they landed on the grass a few feet away. The hawk with its wings outstretched over the pigeon and the pigeons beak wide open and its pink tongue sticking out as the hawk dug in deeper is still vivid...nature at is purest...

Amazing birds. The pittsburgh area has several nests that have cameras on them every spring. This year the one nest with three eggs was attacked at least twice by a raccoon and owl. They successfully protected the eggs which are now hatched.

Where I live, the eagle population is very decent. I didnt know this until about 10 years ago, but they prefer to eat carrion rather than hunt live prey. They are magnificent animals.

I used to trap squirrels in my yard and release them in a local park. I released one once and as it ran away a large hawk swooped down and plucked it off the ground and flew away with it. Wish I would have been filming...

I saw a Hawk or a Falcon take a pigeon in mid air years ago driving north up the 99 freeway in CA just south of Fresno, I was probably around a 1/4 to 1/2 mile away when I saw a big puff of whiteness appear about 15 ft. above the freeway by a overpass, I saw that it was the Falcon or Hawk as I drove by in the divider starting to eat it.
I'll never forget that up
I use to catch good snakes as a kid and feed them frogs, I like most animals but some I kill like Scorpions, most spiders and all poisonous snakes hammer

Please share your squirrel trapping knowledge.
Best bait?
Best type of trap design?

I have tried peanut butter.
I have a metal cage trap door design and just bought a high voltage zapper design.

Do not suggest one cycle engines, although I got an Expert medal at age 13 HOA regulations and philosophy of neighbors nix that option.

I use a trap like this. For bait I smear peanut butter on the trigger plate and stick some peanut halves in it. I adjust the sensitivity of the trigger mechanism by adding magnets to it (it is triggered by weight).

Was sitting at a 4 way red light years back at Daytona. Numerous black birds where eating scraps in the roadway right in front of me. It happened so fast I never saw clearly the bird that basically expoled one of the black birds right in front of my car as he flew away. What was mostly surprising, the other black birds appeared to pursue the culprit immediately and aggressively, what for, I have no idea.

Last summer, I witnessed an Eagle swoop down and pick up a large rabbit running full bore to escape. No such luck for the rabbit, but at the same time, at least 6 to 8 crows tried attacking the eagle in mid-air! eek and the eagle fought every one of them off...still holding onto his kill...after he dispatched the crows, he flew off with his meal. Really impressive to watch that! up

They are beautiful! And way bigger than one would think but we see them all the time on the side of the road munching on roadkill here and they stand pretty tall.

Have an eagle nest across from my property.

Acouple years ago, one was trying to catch an osprey. The drama continued for several minutes. The eagle was faster, the osprey more manuverable. The eagle finally got tired and gave up.

Last Saturday, an eagle plucked a mouse off of my neighbors lawn.
