I was checking out a few videos last night & these three stood out:

That guy has a voice as annoying as ANY Infomercial announcer.
Fran Drescher would be an even swap for that guy.

I think it's a great idea to add a little food coloring to the water if you are going to separate the ethanol from the fuel. I am quite fortunate in that I have 3 gas stations nearby that sell the rec fuel. I run nothing but the ethanol-free fuel in all my power equipment, my Merc-powered bass boat, & my 2016 Scat Pack Challenger. About 6 years ago (before I started using the rec fuel), my boat engine would barely start & run the first time each season. Now I see why. I also used to have major issues with my push lawnmower to the point I had to take it to a small engine repair shop for them to go through the carb to get it running one year. The ethanol combined with a really crappy carburetor on it that is............

Two years ago I started running Rec gas exclusively in my '69 Buick. The change in drivability, start up after storage, etc is amazing.

taking the ethanol out reduces octane rating quite a bit.

Re: Fuel With Ethanol Effects - How to Remove Ethanol: - 04/03/21 01:35 AM

True, these guys said they started with Premium because the octane was reduced.

Around here Premium costs more than non-ethanol. Kind of a wash.

Still great information I will remember.

All the rec fuel around me is marked 90 octane. The Challenger shows no ill effects from 90 octane at all.

Here's where you find rec fuels in your areas - pick your state: www.pure-gas.org

Anytime I come accross e-85 I put it in whatever car I am driving, only one time had an issue, my 97 neon ran like crap for about the first 100 miles than cleared up and ran great the rest of the tank.

Why would ANYBODY want to run E-85???

Quite a few turbocharged cars run it. Lots cheaper than race gas, and available all over the Midwest.

It supports running higher compression engines. I have read you came run 14-15 to 1 compression using E85 without knocking issues.

The turbo guys run it and make big power with it.

It resists detonation and is like cheap race gas to them.

It's not uncommon to pick up big HP gains going to E-85 from pump gas because they can run more timing and boost!

I was looking at an Eagle that had a blown 383 in it. I would have run E85 in that if the deal worked out.

Its much cheaper, supports very high compression (actually enough to offset most if not all efficiency loss VS pump gas), and if your car is NOT a "flex fuel" vehicle the computer will not richen the mix up enough to hurt MPG, Less carbon build up in combustion chambers, smells like pop corn, supports american farmers instead of saudi terrorists, helps engine run cooler, can make more HP because it carries more oxygen into the air fuel mixture... heck the only good reason I see to not to is because al gore likes it.

I put a bunch of fuel system parts (steel lines, t-quad float bowl pieces, aluminum, brass, 68 cuda fuel hose...) in a sealed jar of e-85 and now 15 years later it all looks the same as when I put it in so I don't buy that the ethanol is what is plugging stuff up, ethanol actually leaves zero residue when it evaporates. If you keep the moisture out (don't put it in a boat or something with an atmosphere vented cap that will sit a long time) it will not corrode anything up,.

The guy doing the video showing the effects of ethanol...sounds just like Krusty the clown.......... work

Krusty was voiced by Kelsey Grammer. I haven't seen the Simpsons in years!

Ethanol can be corrosive.

https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.energyfuels.7b01682

Basically, it draws water out of the atmosphere and that is what starts the corrosion issues, in your sealed jar you don't have atmospheric moisture available to be an issue. So it's a moot experiment. Anything with a vented fuel system will have that problem.

Easier to maintain temp when hot lapping at the track, significantly cheaper than mixing race and pump fuel(my fuel usage was 1/2 gal more for the day) my car actually picked up some ET

If we are talking old cars or lawnmowers, just run Stabil 360 and be done with the issues. Remember the stuff is only good in the bottle for two years and you are good to go.
