So the question is, how many laps does it take for them to wear all the way through to water?

PS. Not sure I would want to be standing on the outside of the track the first time they throw a stud off the rear tire.

Dad use to ice race back in the late 50's early 60's. Said they raced a lot at Lake Alvin south east of Sioux Falls. He ran a 50 chevy. They would drill holes and throw bolts in the tread. Said they would set up just off the shore a lot like they are in this video. There would be people with holes drilled ice fishing on the shore line. As the cars would come around the corners the ice would naturally bounce and there would be water shooting up out of the fishing holes every lap.
