Bluefield - West Virginia - Skyline Motors? - 01/16/21 05:21 PM

Hello West Viginians, I am doing research history on my 1970 Super Bee and we have narrowed it down to possibly being sold at Skyline Motors. Does this deaslership exist still? Can a title search be performed in WV? Any info would be appreciated.

Is there a historical society there? You might try Fbook and find a page for Bluefield or Mercer County.

There is a WVa Mopar owners page, I'm on it as I'm just across the Ohio river from WVa wink

I have made many trips to and through Bluefield starting around 1975 up to 1989.
I remember a Chrysler dealership on Bluefield Ave
but “Skyline Motors” does not seem like the name back then on the sign.

Try asking someone at the
Bluefield Daily Telegraph newspaper
“who is your oldest retired reporter” ?
or maybe “I would like to buy an old 1970 paper that has a Skyline Motors advertisement in it”

Very small paper with little archived online. Only a couple of months in 1970 and the paper was 14 pages long.

Thanks Guys!!!! I reached out to City Hall and the local Library. Some very nice people I spoke with. They had some information: The dealer was in operation from 1968-1983, Owned by Robert "Dutch" and Racheal Sexton. I did a little research and he is in his 90's if still alive. I highly doubt any of the dealership info still exists. Also being a plymouth dealer would they have sold a Dodge new? Maybe it was a used car there at some point. I'll keep digging.

Well, when I bought my 86 Dodge Daytona new it was from a Chrysler-Plymouth dealer. But I lived in a small town, under 9k people wiht no Dodge dealer close. I suppose it was possible elsewhere too.

I posted on that FB page I mentioned, lone response stated it's out of biz and long gone.

I guess this is old news
