I'm up in Sandpoint, and there's a couple of other Mopar guys in this area.
There are allegedly a few Mopar guys in Coeur d'Alene, but I've only met one years ago.
Got a buddy in Meridian, Mopar guy & member here, and there's a fair amount of car culture around him.
Got a great drag strip in the area.
Mountain Home looks like a nice area.
Idaho is definitely not "west coast" in any sense; most of it's a lot like going back in time.

No longer a Mopars Unlimited Club here. Many of the people in the Mopar club have joined other multi-makes clubs, or sold their old cars and got out of it. There is a FB page for the club still up last I looked. Maybe one day the guy that ran the club will try to get it going again if enough people ask?

You can find car show listings for the whole state on the USRI website. The Emmett show and the Payette show are the biggest and best by far.

There is another car club that several of those Mopars Unlimited guys switched over to. I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head right now, but that would be a good place to connect to some of them.

At any rate the Mopar activity here is pretty thin now vs what it used to be say 10 years ago. Someone should start another Mopar club if that guy is not going to ever do anything with it, but I'm not sure there are enough peeps left who would join and participate.

Apparently Topside never makes it to Spokane. 😎

The northwest is loaded with car guys. Car clubs are passé. You’ll find plenty of classic cruise spots and shows in the Boise area in the summer. Hit the local speed shops when you get there. Firebird Raceway is still going strong from the looks of their website. They host some big events. There’s Hot August Nights in Lewiston if you want to venture that far north, and big shows in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and Sandpoint if you want to venture up into God’s Country. 😃. There’s a northwest classic car event flyer that comes out each year that lists events and clubs. Look for it when you get there.

Not often, Big - honestly not a fan of the place.
Worked there for 6 years, can't believe now that I did that 130-mile round-trip commute for 9-10 hours of Hell.
I do go into the Valley to bug Scott Smith from time to time, though.

I went to Lewiston's Hot August Nights in 2019 and was really impressed with how well organized it was and the high quality of the cars. I am partially relocated to that part of the state and hope to be there permanently this spring. I believe the nearest track will be Spokane, about 130 miles or so. Hopefully some of the smaller cities have Cruise Nights in the summer?

I just moved to Nampa Idaho last month....and brought my Mopar with me. I am glad you dug up this old thread. I am looking forward to the car show and coffee and cars events when spring hits.
Niel (a member on here), lives in Eagle, we haven't had a chance to meet up yet.

Hi Andy, i looked up your shop, it is near where my son-in law works, Purple Sage Golf Course. I will swing by one day and say hello.

As for the Ads on here, if you are using a computer, install Ad blocker! https://adblockplus.org/

If you are using a cell phone, it sucks.

Loving it, some of the nicest people around, lots of outdoor activities. I even went ice fishing for the first time Sunday. In Nampa they had a cruise going on Saturday, hard to keep the gear heads down for long around here LOL.
Drag strip 15 minutes from my house smile extra bonus.

Talking to people who know people I'm lead to believe this is the club that absorbed what was left of the Mopars Unlimited Club after it fell apart.

https://www.facebook.com/IdahoChariots

It was weird and sad to watch the Mopars in the Park car show count decline each year until it was hardly worth going to and then poof - no more.

Re: Any Idaho mopar clubs or guys? - 01/13/21 04:54 PM

I have a question for the Idaho people. Is there an area of the state that does not get plastered with snow or has minimal amounts? Just in the back of my mind if we end up leaving the PRC due to taxes, costs etc. As a So Cal natives we are fine with rain but snow is something we never dealt with unless we went to play in it. Don't want to deal with salt on the roads, having to get a 4x or chain up. This may be wishful thinking but figured I'd ask those who live there.

Re: Any Idaho mopar clubs or guys? - 01/13/21 05:21 PM

This winter has had very little snow and mostly rain. Past winters there has been no shortage of it as in enough to make a real mess that lasts for weeks. Eventually we will get one of those bad winters again, and the people from other places may question moving here.

From the end of November to the middle of March you can expect cold and either rain or snow. I have seen snow in Boise in late September one time.

I've been told the middle part of the state around Twin Falls has better winters than Boise, but can't confirm.

If you want a quiet small area places like Burley, Rupert, Heyburn are smallish farm areas.

Lewiston is a sea port up at the top of the state and is much lower in elevation so I think the winters up there are not too bad.

Re: Any Idaho mopar clubs or guys? - 01/13/21 05:54 PM

I'm up at the north end ("panhandle"), Sandpoint.
Winters here vary, like 2-3 years of mild (little snow), then a couple years of heavy snow, back & forth.
About 3 cycles in the last 16 years.
Really just depends on El Nino pattern and of course temps.
Best to do some Wiki research of the different towns' altitude & weather.
Snow level seems to be about 2500-3000 feet, but we also have micro-climates where it varies a lot.
The further away from a city you are, the more self-sufficient you need to be, of course.
With a plow truck, winter tires for the Breeze, and a stand-by generator, I'm covered.

Re: Any Idaho mopar clubs or guys? - 01/14/21 05:32 PM

I've found that some of the wiki or town website info can be vague or generous on the wrong end. Years ago we were thinking about the eastern side of Oregon just west of Boise. My wife had checked the county website and it looked good. Later on she just spot checked on a weather channel site and got the true info. Cold and snow. I said remember you are higher up latitude wise and you are bound to have it colder than here. She can't deal with extreme heat or cold. Maybe too many years of working in a climate controlled work place. From what I've seen so far the southern areas of Id. look promising but its always better to find out from those who live there.

Southern Idaho is high desert so we can get past 100 in the summer and well below 0 in the winter. It's also flat so wind from coming up from Nevada and across from Oregon is common.

We got 39 inches of snow in 2017. Numerous buildings with flat or low sloped roofs failed. You can tell a lot about the winter weather in areas just by looking at the roof slopes of buildings. Steep sloped roofs cost money, but they are there for a reason.

Re: Any Idaho mopar clubs or guys? - 01/22/21 12:29 AM

Not directly answering your question but couldn't resist because I used to live in MH. Anyhow, as improbable as it seems now, Mountain Home had quite a collection of rare muscle cars when I was stationed @ MHAFB in 1981.

In town, there was a guy that had a '69 T/A and a 70 RAIV T/A that he used as daily drivers. There was Cedar Autobody that had a 6bbl Superbird, a cop that had a 70 Charger R/T, Elms Speed Shop had a 69 Charger R/T for sale and there was a guy selling a 67 R/T roller (mint) for $100.

On base there was my 71 Charger R/T, a 72 Roadrunner/GTX Air Grabber 4sp. Dana in Petty Blue, a 4sp AAR in primer, a 69 Mach-1 428 4sp and a Hang 10 Dart.
There also was a dragstrip on base where they raced weekends, weather permitting.

On the other hand, finding a 340 involved searching the JY system in 3 states.

Boise had maybe 4-5 Mopars running around, not including a custom 69 500 Charger that would intermittently show up @ Ann Morrison Park. Fords were everywhere though.
