Looking to hibernate. With the crazy weather here in Arizona rattlers have been encountered.

This reminds me to SEAL UP the lower edge of my 12x14 OH door ...

Several months ago a snake got in there and I dropped a small bench vise on it hammer

It had a squareish head !

If he was poisonous and that close to my house he broke our unwritten agreement to stay in his own area. I wonder what he tastes like.

Was last summer some time.
We had a gopher snake going across driveway as we pulled in......he was at least 4 ft long. .

He kept moving and disappeared in the side yard.

We have a gila monster around we see from time to time.

They leave me alone......ill leave them alone.
They help keep the packrat population down.

This snake does have a wider than normal face, but it's more like a python than a viper.

I worked summers in an old power plant that bordered scrub prairie. When the weather started turning cooler as fall approached, the rattlers from the prairie would come into the boiler house as it was warm. It was a joke around the plant that once cooler weather hit everyone had three flashlights, one for each hand and one in the mouth!

The list of snakes that can ruin your day there is surprisingly long indeed. I figured there would be a handful at most. Wrong!

Hell, Arizona has a list of Cacti that can ruin your day! Washington has one venomous snake, the Pacific Rattler, and NO venomous lizards. A few spiders...
