Get it out in the sun with a good bath. Hopefully you will be surprised and it will clean up. White is a very forgiving color...I have a '66 from CA that was almost all original paint...claybar and lots of elbow grease and it was surprising how it came back. Good luck!

Very cool & looks like it should clean up pretty nicely.
You can still see some shine through the dirt.

No idea , she had no clue .. no idea if it runs or not .. hoping for a 383 4 speed !
will be happy if the floors are good and rest isn't awful .. looks like lower fender has a hole .. picture taking skills were lousy but, I know those cars enough I felt comfortable with price that someone else would want it if I don't ..
Not like me to buy without viewing .. took a leap of faith,

Re: 64 Barn find - 12/22/20 04:44 PM
never know, passenger side might be wiped out .. be my luck
Awesome, I love those and I agree, great color combo! Yeah you took a little risk, but sometimes you have to in order to score, and from the looks of it, you got a good car!

Re: 64 Barn find - 12/22/20 06:51 PM
Here's to hoping the worst case scenario is it has a /6 with 35,000 original miles and the seats got the clear plastic bubble covers at the dealer in 64. What looks like rust was just some cow$hit that got splashed on it while enroute to the barn. 👍
Merry Christmas!!!

Its not here but at my friends ,, dark out so can't get snaps of it until Thursday --tomorrow we have a winter storm blowing thru , Thursday I'm off and will go get pics of it ..318 / auto ..the brakes were froze, only 78,000 miles on it ..nothing missing, has a little rust but not bad he says ..was in that shed for 30 years, did have a concrete floor so , hoping its nice underneath and rust is limited ...
should be a decent car to waste money on ..lol

Re: 64 Barn find - 12/23/20 07:20 PM
I'm pretty sure you can buy full floor pans and trunk floors for early B's now. As long as the bottom of the cowl isn't rotted out, you should be in good shape. The factory never put drain holes in the sides of the cowls on those cars, and water would just pond up in there. I got extremely lucky on the 64 Belvedere wagon I used to have, and it wasn't rusty. I drilled drain holes in the side of the upper cow before it got painted. Glad you found such a great car!
Welcome back to the 64 club Bigdad
Post up any parts you need an I will help if I can.

Re: 64 Barn find - 12/24/20 10:58 PM
got my first look .. not as excited now , going to need quarters for sure and front fenders .. they are both toast , cowl looked ok , floors look ok .. really complete, not missing anything that I can see ..but, it most likely will move on to someone else ..
I offered it to a friend 1st , he is having christmas so can't look at it for a couple days , then I'm going to offer it to the public , I'll post more pics then
Just no one around here that wants to do body work on old cars any more , its more than I can handle

What engine is in the car, BigDad?

Re: 64 Barn find - 12/25/20 07:58 PM
^^^ I'd bet on a Poly 318. Which is fine, but not as romantic as a BB to most.
Pretty sure patch panels are available for the fenders, not sure on quarters.
On one of my early Bs we had to fab lower outer quarters - not too hard; luckily the drop-offs were good.
That was about 10 years ago.

This is the bad side ..
A lot about the car is really great, the interior is quite nice .. little clean up I'd drive it ..i might end up keeping it , just not sure yet ..talking to a local body shop about repair / cost ..
It is a really, really complete car .. nothing missing or bent and junk

318 / auto ..I bet it could start up with a small amount of effort ..

Re: 64 Barn find - 12/27/20 05:28 PM
Some barn finds are incredible. About 10 years ago, I bought a '64 Dodge 2dr post, from under a barn. Read 12K miles. Long story short, I had it trailered home, while still sitting in my yard, a guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He got it home and found the keys in the air filter. In the glove compartment he found the original purchasers drivers license (born 1898), and service records ending around 10K miles. the front tires were original. In other words it actually had about 12K miles.
Doesn't look too bad on the "bad" side! I think it looks great in white with that red trim! Such cool cars.
