Just rely on the included “pump a flat” can of compressed gas?

Or by a spare tire kit?

A just sent away for a full kit with spacers (due to the Brembo brakes), but it set me back nearly $450.

I choose to error on the safe side, but wonder enjoy others do.

Dang shame can’t get a car like this (Scats and Hellcats anyway), without a simple spare setup.

Maybe when the automobile was first invented it was a good idea to have a spare.

But, in this day and age, I haven't packed 40 pounds of dead weight around in any of the vehicles I own for at least 20 years. I have free roadside assistance on my credit card, and even at that have never used it for a flat. I have soapy water, bacon strips and a needle to fix all my flats myself.

Threw all my supposedly $1200.00 E-Body space-saver wheels/tires, $600.00 jacks and frame tie-downs in the scrap metal pile too. What am I going to do with 50 pounds of ugly...............use it?

Can't say I feel sorry for you spending $450 bucks on a spare, did they throw in a jack and compressor?

It’s not unusual to be out on highways (and off the grid roads) and beyond cell service. Sometimes by a huge amount of miles (we are retired, and travel).

Hate the idea of no spare as well. Bought a '18 Mustang GT...all it has is a "tire mobility kit". Took it on a 3k mi trip to Yellowstone this summer and running across South Dakota and Wyoming at 85 mph in 90+F heat makes ya think about stuff like that. We had a close call(something in the road) in Yellowstone Park but managed to avoid it. If I need a tow..AAA has me covered for 100mi and a pair of tires might cost $400-$500?.....a bit more than the spare kit you listed. The spare will get ya off the road but you'll still have to fix/replace the tire. Cost wise might be a wash but ya gotta do what makes ya comfortable. For now I'll just wing it with the Mustang until we figure out how many big trips we'll take it on.

Here's to you never needing your spare and me never needing to contact AAA from the boonies!! LOL!!

I bought a little plug kit so i wouldn't have to rely on the sealer in the can stuff

But 10 years latter when I needed it , had a flat , plugged it but the air pump was locked up (if it ever worked)

Now have a small jack, lug wrench, plug kit and a GOOD 12volt air pump

So all set unless I have a major blow out , that's what AAA is for the tow home then

My Crossfire doesn't have a spare - I have different sized tires front and rear. Fortunately it hasn't been a problem.

Ive two now with no spare and one road I must travel on is a rim breaker.

For one rig, I found the whole spare tire option in a scrap lot, all for $50 the other might be a stretch.

But here in the sticks, ya got to get cell service to call for a tow or wait maybe an hour for someone to come by.

Tire tech has come along way, but if the roads jacked it means nothing.

That is why I have an Auto Club...

i i bought a donut spare for my 15 challenger and jack from the junk yard. i rather something i can rely on in case of a flat

I have a pair of needle nose pliers and a plug kit. I've had to use it once this year. I used the air pump to bring the tire pressure back up.

I was going to say that you need to make sure it clears the front brakes, but it kinda looks like that spare kit should.
The factory space saver spare doesn't clear the front Brembo brakes without a spacer.
I think that's part of the reason that the SRT cars never got a spare but the R/T models did (smaller calipers).

So far I've been running without a spare on my 300 SRT8, but I just put new tires on it this summer.

As far as the factory air pump, I only tried to use it once last fall. I had put drag radials on it to run at Gateway.
I let the air down to 26 in them while at the track. I plugged in the factory air pump in the cigarette lighter plug/power outlet to air them back up at the end of the night.
It ran for about 30 seconds and then popped the fuse.
It's a useless piece of crap.

I just drove it home with the tires at 26 psi.

I did the same basic thing at the Holley Moparty in Bowling Green just on the street tires.
This time I used a small Motortrend badged air pump I got from Summit Racing, aired the tired up with no problem.

All of my cars have a fullsize spare (if they didn't come with one, I bought one and added it). I don't drive around with them in the cars, necessarily, but have them in a pinch. If I were to go a long distance, I take a spare, just in case, otherwise I have AAA and that can usually get me to the dealership (where I work) or home (about 4 miles apart).

Altho most people think Florida is wall to wall people, and would have great cell service, it's not the case.

Last year bought a '15 Mustang convert, and it just had an air pump kit, no spare. And of course nearly the first thing I did was ditch the oem wheels/tires for something bigger, In my case a set of factory staggered Bullit take offs.

And sprung for a spare kit from Ford, tire/wheel, jack, and wrench, for just under $200.

Not running a flat Michelin Pilot down the road to get cell service or wait an hour or two for road service ... wait for it,

Maybe when you need new tires buy the "Run Flat" kind?

You would think that cars without spare tires would be OEM equipped with Run Flat tires???

Also isn't a spare tire an option or is that an option for a full size spare versus a space saver spare???

I got an entire spare kit for a Challenger for $15.00. They are exactly the same for all Modern Mopars. Go to any pick-n-pull and get one out of a 06 Charger or what ever. I went on half priced day and it was $15.00 for the wheel, jack, foam insert.

I put it in, drove it around for a month with it. Took it out, bought a patch kit and a yearly subscription to AAA.

When I bought my 2009 Challenger, I went to a tire place that had a Charger police wheel and tire. I've made numerous trips from TX to PA/NJ/FL, so I wanted a spare. I upgraded the wheels and tires a couple of years back, so now I use one of the OEM tires for a spare.

Is there a place to carry a spare tire in the trunk (or under) of the car?

The wifes 2006 Charger Daytona has a spare in the well in the trunk next to where the battery in mounted.

My 2007 300 SRT8 has a foam block with compartments in it in that well.
That's where they put the air pump assembly and fix a flat goo.

There's no reason you can't put a spare assembly in the well.
The main thing is making sure the spare fits over the larger Brembo brakes.
To use a factory spare a wheel spacer is required on the front hubs.

That's what I learn from searching using a space saver spare on the SRT cars.

Any later model with the larger brakes is where you have to make sure the spare clears the brakes, the front seems to be where the issue is.

The kit that the OP bought looks like it was designed to work with the larger brakes.

In my Scat, the well also has two large factory speakers. No room for a spare.

The spare tire kit from Amazon includes a carry bag. I’m skeptical as to quality, but we’ll see... haven’t received the kit yet.

I ordered a Wheather Tech trunk mat to protect the factory trunk floor fabric, and possibly keep the kit from sliding around.

I didn't think about that the later cars moved the sub-woofer into the spare tire well.

The sub-woofer on mine is in the left quarter panel area in front of the taillight.

My HC has run flats. I suppose if i were to drive cross country I would carry a spare to throw on in case I would absolutely garbage a tire.
