Infolinks Again! - 10/22/20 01:47 PM

I just logged in with my desktop & here's an Infolinks ad that says: "Photos captured at the airport!" with a photo of a sexy woman in a white tank top. WTH? GREAT AD! What the he!! are they trying to sell?

And yes I have AdBlocker Plus installed & FoxFire. What a useless POS service Infolinks is.

Yeah, she's a M.I.L.F. Better than last weeks infolink for Israel bonds.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 10/22/20 04:07 PM

I finally got my ad blocker to block infolinks the other day (at least for now).
It took a lot of messing with it to get it to stop the ads.

I was getting close to the point of not even coming on here anymore, I was tired of the page being slowed down while loading all the ads.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 10/22/20 09:22 PM

My infolinks got smaller and bottom of page so I got used to just ignoring it. I can't download adblocker on my work PC and not sure what to do with Safari on my ipads at home, and I just got used to ignoring it so wasn't motivated enough to chase down a solution.
However, now infolinks has become more irritating, I open a page here, and then the page will scroll as the infolink loads. Really bad when I go to log in here, I type in my name and when I go to type in the password box, the screen scrolls up and in the split second it takes to line up in the password box and click, it scrolls and I'm clicking in the banner ads above instead and often I hit one and it opens. realmad
This issue just started a few weeks ago.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 10/23/20 09:26 AM

I can not add AddBlock to my Samsung S3.

And I'm the laptop it punched threw and tgen locked it up so not adding usable contents here.
Why take picture's type text into a blank page in Open Office and have Gramerly do it's thing to get stabbed in the back by Info links MONEY MAKER. The site is already getting $ from Google, and the banner ADDS.
So when they stop I will add useable content that will add traffic. SORRY Just the,way i feel.

My eero home WiFi has always blocked Infolinks, until this morning. Something must have changed.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 10/23/20 11:46 PM

Try updating your ad blocker if you have one installed. I have a network-wide ad blocker on my home network. In the last couple of weeks, Infolinks pop ups reappeared on my iPad. I updated my ad blocker today and now they are gone.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 10/24/20 01:05 AM

I keep getting these redirects from this site that take me to scam fake site mimicking my wireless provider offering me a free phone for a dollar in return for a survey. They ask for your bank info for the payment. Apparently triggered from ad script, happens with android phone and apple safari.

Annoying pop up ads - 11/09/20 09:29 PM

I haven`t tried to reinstall but I did check to make sure it is updated and it was. I will try to reinstall. Thanks
BTW, has anybody ever been able to answer why we only get them on Moparts and not at the other sites I view?

Re: Annoying pop up ads - 11/09/20 11:52 PM

And....... to add to the joy....... there is now a pop up, on top of a pop up.

I’m now getting a “purple ad” thing coming on at the bottom of the page...... behind the infolink.
Just started a little bit ago.

Re: Annoying pop up ads - 11/10/20 03:12 AM

Yep,

I’m getting the “Purple Ads”

Stumpy (or others) will re-installing Ad Block Plus help that ?

To re-install it, do I need to remove it. Then install it?

Re: Annoying pop up ads - 11/10/20 05:12 AM

Yep - now we got Purpleads, and InfoF***s. They are busting through my AdBlocker plus on every page tonight. They are both at the bottom as I type this right now. THIS IS SO MADDENING!!!

Tom - can you do something about this, or has our technology finally outsmarted us?

Re: Annoying pop up ads - 11/10/20 05:27 AM

I run Ghostery on my phone for a browser just so I can view this site mostly unannoyed. It keeps Infolinks almost completely squashed. It pops once when I open the page and once you close the banner, it's gone.

This purple ad things is another matter tho.

If I view the phone portrait, it doesn't pop but as soon as I turn it landscape, it makes Infolinks seem like a mild annoyance.

I always enjoyed the knowledge here for many years, but viewing this site becomes a pita unfortunately.

Re: Annoying pop up ads - 11/10/20 03:58 PM

My home network adblocker used to block Infolinks but no longer does so.

I don't mind advertising since it supports the site.

What I do mind is the screen jumping all over the place and making everything a moving target.

While I have no proof, I visit this site everyday and I think traffic is down.

We all know of good members who don't come here anymore because of the intrusive advertising.

Its a real shame.

I don't know why that's not possible, non membership paying members can keep the pop up ads and the rest of us can go back to the way it was. Here's an example of another site that went through the same member complaints and this fixed it:

Memberships

For over a decade, BMW 2002 FAQ has provided the largest technical resource and community for BMW 2002 and BMW Neue Klasse owners. We work hard everyday towards promoting our hobby, users, and suppliers.

Our Supporting Membership program helps fund our financial obligations while providing you online and offline benefits and resources as a BMW 2002 owner.

Membership to the site will always be free, but if you would like to remove the ads and gain a couple other perks, please, chose one of the paid membership options.

Supporting Membership Benefits

No Advertising: With Supporting Membership, you will not see any external advertisements. The site will look cleaner and act a lot faster
• Supporting Member Moniker: Under your posts you will be seen as a Supporting Member.

Membership Cost
• Kugelfischer Membership: $4.02/month, $20.02/6 month, or $35.02/year
• Turbo Membership: $7.02/month, $30.02/6 month, or $50.02/year
• Alpina Membership: $14.02/month, $60.02/6 month, or $100.02/year
As a reward for your donation of $4.02 per month, $20.02 per 6 months or $35.02 per year, you will not see any external advertisements, the site will look cleaner and run a bit faster.

MikeR

Just a thought and this way instead of complaining you guys can step up and put your complaining money where your complaints are. And future complainers can be directed to the paying membership sign up area and you can also have a full page POP UP AD WITH THE MESSAGE ON HOW TO GET RID OF THE POP UP ADS grin

Re: Infolinks Again! - 11/11/20 06:50 AM

I can sympathize. Maybe I am lucky because I sure am NOT computer savvy. The Wife or nephew installed some type of AdBlocker so the only ads that I see are the forum sponsors and I'm okay with those.
I do wonder why this problem even exists. I don't recall seeing anyone in a position of authority actually explain why this happens.

No, this board software does not support that option

Moparts Sponsors and Ads pay for the Site , Moparts is my retirement job
( I didn't cash out years ago - maybe that was mistake )

I was forced to remove the Google ads on the board because of changes google made,
first in what they were paying and in where "they thought " the ads should go, which was ALL over the page

I try to set and use the ads that cause the least amount of annoyance, but on smart phones that is almost impossible to do

So add blocking software is your friend

Re: Infolinks Again! - 11/11/20 10:01 PM

I've got an ad blocker running so I don't know what's changed recently but for the first time today I started getting an add sliding in at the bottom left corner of the screen. Which doesn't seem to block much but is really annoying when it keeps doing that dragging your attention down there.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 11/12/20 01:12 AM

Thank you Tom for setting things straight after way too many posts on this has went unanswered. I dont think anyone could actually blame you as your the owner and the internet seems to change over time with social media vs web sites.

I still get no ads or popups, but it was not easy and if one doesnt have something like ddwrt firmware on there router it pointless to explain. When I use my mobile device I use wifi vs data and my router still keeps them out on my phone.

I'm using FireFox and Ad Blocker Plus and so far luck it's still blocking ads. In fact, the little icon at the top right of the page says it is blocking four ads even as I'm typing this.

Re: Infolinks Again! - 11/12/20 04:23 PM

Infolinks was bad enough but this purple thing is incredibly annoying. Never used Adblocker before. Just tried to download it but it says incompatible which I am assuming is because my OS is Vista. Are there any similar ad blocking downloads that will work with Vista?
