Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/03/20 03:58 PM

FCA is just rehashing the past and seems like all they have is the Jeep & Ram brand that are making them $$$ . . .they bailed on the small cars and SUVS that everyone seems to want. Thinking they could morph the Fiat European cars into Chrysler/Dodge branded machines - never seems to work. I have to admit, I needed a new company vehicle, and went with GM, because they actually had something I thought fit the bill. Nothing from FCA - was too much $$.

Not sure if the "new" STELLANTIS company is going to keep Chrysler/Dodge around . . . Jeep & Ram - sure, but the rest of the product line up . . . sorry to the Challenger guys, but the world is moving on into different directions . . . . good luck !

Just my 2cents worth (ok, thats Canadian, so $0.075 US) . . .

Cheers

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/03/20 04:04 PM

Normally new cars need to grow on me before I like them but I think this one looks awesome. Has a Range Rover/Ford Flex look but classier. I'm sure the price will be rediculous though. Hope my wife never sees one or she'd likely want to trade in her 15'.

Where's the wood-grain paneling on the side?

I like it too. I agree about it having a Range Rover look.

I'm not even sure if it was an option--I don't recall ever seeing one of the original Grand Wagoneers without it...

Pass on both.

I dont think they had considered the state of the economy and the country.

Yeah I don't see doing too well at those prices.

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/04/20 03:14 AM

I'm just not seeing the original "Wagoneer" in any of this new "Grand Wagoneer"???? If it didn't have the signature 7 grille slots or openings I would think it was a new Ford (FLEX) or who knows what brand SUV it is???

Can someone point out what on it is styling from the original? And then as already noted where is the original shipping crate they used to come in that dealers and owners wood leave on.....yeah that's a pun and sarcasm wink grin

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/04/20 04:39 PM

I've always been a big fan of the old Grand Wagoneers (especially the ones from the late '80s/early '90s). I always thought the fake woodgrain was kind of cool, if a little kitsch.
The new Grand Wagoneer looks OK, I guess, but the $100K price? Hard pass.

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/04/20 05:15 PM

While it is the same shape as a Flex/All SUVs/Wagon's I think they did OK. No way to copy the original and have it be any kind of aerodynamic. The Grand Wagoneer was the luxury SUV of its time just like the new one will be. It will probably do just fine against the navigator and Denali SUV.

They will sell with zero down and 144 months to pay.

Actually, it does have a touch of exterior wood trim. If you read the story the headlight has teak wood trim at its base.

Hmmmmmm, good point and maybe at the last minute this will turn out to be the Chrysler "Navigator" instead of a Jeep. Looking at this Grand Wagoneer's grille and headlights sure does remind me of the Chrysler emblems/logos a lot, especially if you take away the 7 Jeep slots.

Maybe the Durango will be better. Supposed to share the same platform with the GW and Ram

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/05/20 07:15 AM

I'm all for it as long as it takes sales away from cadillac.

Some time ago I stated to another car guy that the SRT Jeep is the Upper Class ride and above whatever cadillac makes..........................he doesn't acknowledge me anymore. laugh2

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/05/20 11:39 AM

I think they are going to struggle overcoming the name stigma with something like "wagoneer". To us younger folks, that goes along with buick roadmasters and wood paneled station wagons...neither of which drive me to consider it a "high dollar luxury vehicle" that they are trying to position it as.

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/14/20 06:51 PM

Looks nice, and the upper class is doing well so it'll sell.

Would look better w/blacked out B/C pillars.

Will be more reliable me thinks than say a German or RangeRover SUV.

All those crazy screens are cool now, but going to be a nightmare when they all start screwing up 5 years from now out of warranty.

Here in the Tulsa Oklahoma Area there was some test mules spotted. Saw one post with 2 GWs and another where they were travelling with a another SUV that was heavily camouflaged. See pics

What do you think the camo'd SUV is? The GWs are camo'd but not to that level. Unless its just another GW they didn't get a wrap for.

Could be, or a basic wagoneer. I really like the design. They all are going to have the same basic shape but I have driven a Flex and don't see them very close. The GW is much bigger too. I real prefer it to the Chevy and Cadillac offerings for sure.

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 09/15/20 01:11 PM

The GW had been rumored for awhile. I expected it to just be a Grand Cherokee but on the longer Durango Platform, I did not expect them to make it off the Ram Chassis.

Quote
Norbert Buscha of Grandwagoneer.com, a shop that sells fully resto-modded, $200,000 versions of the classics with more than 150 modern upgrades, doesn't see it. "The design direction the company has taken has zero relationship to the original Grand Wagoneer," he said. "I don't think it's aligned at all. It has nothing in common with the original. It doesn't share any of the styling cues. It just has a few cheap attempts to call back those original design elements and piggyback on the name, brand awareness, and connotations of the original Grand Wagoneer."

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 10/05/20 10:06 PM

Having owned a wagoner, it’s horrible. When the old ones were a ails or new they were expensive compared to most ads, so that’s expected. I’d just expected a little more style and a little more utility. Like an excursion.

Re: New Grand Wagoneer - 10/07/20 07:50 PM

Well, the old ones generally stayed the same for an almost 30 years sans some updates but, not much. These days I see a lot more of them that get LS swapped or some other engine swap such as a 440 or Cummins 4BT.
