I walked past the ex-Mopar Missile at Bradenton one night at a Division 2 race. It was an all black Pro Stock Duster with Nelson Des Champs on the side. No one was with the car and I never heard of that name, so I kept going. Fast forward 30 or so years when I met Stewart Pomeroy and he showed me pictures of the Duster.

Cool car. Wonder if the side markers are the same ones on the '70-'71 cuda?

I didn't walk by it, I saw it after I checked our Wyatt's 70 TX9 Polara convertible! I saw his car a few months back after he bought it and there was no way he was going to have it together to drive it to Carlisle! Of course I was so awestruck that I didn't get a picture, can someone post one?

I've heard that they are more flat than the cudas.

Those big police cruisers were built at the Newark, Delaware Assembly Plant. My father was the Quality Control manager there. On the weekends, I would go with him to the plant. Behind the plant was a 3/4 mile test track. I learned to drive those big interceptor sedans when I was a young teen. He would bring home a new car off the assembly line every night. He would get pulled over wen he drove a police car home (especially when it was painted up for a neighboring state).

It was not. This was in the C-body section of the showfield.

Interceptor is a Ford, not Plymouth or Dodge.

I got that.
Many others obviously missed the reference.
I wonder if his brakes ever faded on him or if the steering felt a little loose ?

That car would have been the main attraction for me at Carlisle. Any under hood pics?

Not me, I did not walk by it at all as I am a die hard 1970-1971 C-body fan. It actually drew me in from across the show field, damn that was a beautiful car and pretty interesting with the Grey exterior and green interior

Your wish is my command! I absolutely love Wyatt's convertible, i met him at Carlisle last year and this year he told me that this car is 1 of 9 as far as he knows by doing research. It is triple black, a factory 440 car, and loaded with options including pw air and tilt/tele to name a few. BTW I also know the owner of the Burnt Orange Polara next to Wyatt's and the Super-lite was added.

Any proof this is a real police car? VIN reads PL41, should be PK41.

Its real. Several agencies ran higher trimmed cars that weren't "K" code cars. Washington State Patrol ran Fury IIIs in 69 and 70.
