From what it says on the Mopar Nats website, yes.

From that page.

Isn’t THIS ^^^^^ more greed on the part of the NATS and more reason that Carlisle is taking over as the premier Mopar event ??!!

100$ ? ... for no hookup parking ? Fiddlesticks down

Doc...Carlisle doesn't have drag racing...Big difference in my opinion.. wave

But t ... they have a drag strip close by ! ...

I haven’t been to the nats in years but isn’t it on a decline ?

Re: mopar nats RV parking ?? - 07/07/20 12:36 PM

I haven't been to the nats since it was at Indy! Now that is a good track and a great place for a swap meet! Wheres' the track by Carlisle? shruggy

Indy ? ... that was a long LONG time ago ! .., when exactly ? The last time I was there was 03 ! ... and in 02 I showed up A WEEK LATE !

The track near Carlisle? ... Big Mountain something .... that tow hoe from New Yack always goes there !

I’ve never been to Carlisle

Re: mopar nats RV parking ?? - 07/07/20 12:54 PM

I really don't need much so it would be a waste of time to go to Carlisle. The only thing I would sell would maybe be the drag car...Or trade it for something I could drive. wave

Re: mopar nats RV parking ?? - 07/07/20 01:06 PM

But Carlisle is supposedly a better show too !

There have been topics here from time to time some proclaiming they would never go to the Nats again

Every year people piss and moan about the Mopar Nationals. laugh2

I've attended every year since 1984 and will continue going as long as they have it.

It's like anything else, if you go with the intention of having a good time you probably will.

The night life (cruising) and the fact that you can watch drag racing at the event is what sets the Mopar Nats apart from Carlisle. drive

Personally I quit caring about looking at cars that are perfectly restored to the way it left the assembly line that rarely get driven.
Hell, most are nicer than when they were new.
People do that because it's all about "Investment Value" now rather than being able to enjoy driving the car.

I'd rather look at cars that the owner has made their own by doing something custom or modified and watch some racing.

Thanks for the reply's. $100.00 just to pull in the gate is a bit much especially with no electric..plus $200.00 in entry fee's ,I'll pass.

I'm local so; I have no dog in the fight regarding camping fees but, I will say this, I went to Carlisle for the first time around 5 years ago. Everyone said that the swap meet was great. I took a big wad of cash and spent almost nothing. I didn't find 1 thing I was looking for. Was the swap meet big, yes it was. Every year I go the the Nats, I find all types of stuff to spend my money on. Is the swap meet smaller, yes. Are both shows awesome, yes. Will I go back to both of them in the future, yes.

Some time, the size of the swap meet is irrelevant. I hate going to some of the smaller ones but, you just never know what you're going to find. For example, I have another local show that's primarily Chevy parts. Last Fall, I found an original set of 69 valve covers for my 383 Road Runner for $20. They were taken out of service in 1974 and perfect. I never see them at Mopar swaps for that kind of money. Again, you never know what you'll find at any of these shows unless you go. It may be worth it, it may not.

$100 is cheap when you see what the local hotels are charging for a room.

I said the exact same thing in another thread. If you go thinking you'll be miserable, you probably will.
The thing is, they are two completely different shows.
Carlisle is well organized for show cars and the swap meet is huge. So there is way more walking to do to not find the parts you are looking for.
There's nothing to do when the gates close. The racetrack is miles away from the fairgrounds.
The Nats have racing. They have scattered show cars. They have cruising afterwards that you can't duplicate. The same vendors are at the Nats, normally.
The exact same people that don't have anything I need.

I run into most of the same people I know from here at the Nats, not so many at Carlisle. I always get to catch up with Rich and Joe and the crew from out west at the Nats.

Keep telling yourself that. laugh2
That's just your opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. lol

There are actually more people out there in general that just like the looks of a cool car and don't give a crap about "Is it all factory correct?"

They aren't hung up on rarity and option codes.

They simply like cars that look cool and are fun to drive. drive

Sure I am. You can pay $100 for the weekend to stay at the track or $150-$200 per night to stay at a "pay by the hour" flee bag. At least you'll know that your motor home is clean.

THIS is why I am an avid RVer !

BUTTTT you can also park outside the north pit gate fur fReE !

Re: mopar nats RV parking ?? - 07/08/20 01:32 PM

Sure, you can park outside the gates. But you will be asked to leave if you are there after the gates close. It is outside the licensed camping area and against the rules of both the township and County Health Department. The track will be fined for allowing it and it puts their camping permit in jeopardy.
But hey, it's all about being "smarter than the system", right?
BTW: The camping fee is nothing new: this has been policy since the first year camping was allowed in the pits.

You're showing your age Doc. laugh2

The days of $20 a night cheap hotels are long gone, a cheap hotel is at least $40 a night normally these day.

A decent chain motel is usually $60 a night at an absolute minimum. (Motel 6, Econo Lodge, etc)
They are are cheaper sometimes when they run a special of some sort.

The place we stay at, the Deluxe Inn in Hebron is normally $55 a night for the Nats it's $90 to $100 a night depending on one or two beds.
It's old, but it's usually clean and there's a fridge and microwave in the room.
We've been staying there for about 10 years now and the owner is always good to us.
We always reserve the room for next year as soon as we get there.

laugh2

The only thing that I may know about Motel 6 is why they leave the lights on.

I've always heard it was to keep the roaches from coming out.

We only stayed at one once, trying to sleep on the floor would have more comfortable. drumhit
