Great sign of things returning to normal

Great sign of things returning to normal - 05/24/20 07:48 PM

Party of 8 comes in during the breakfast rush this morning at the Cracker Barrel where my daughter works. They complain about having to be split up (no seating for more than 6 at a table), spend 90 minutes tying up 2 tables (2 of the 3 tables that the server had, due to reduced capacity), trashed the entire area, demanded separate checks, and then 5 of them dined and dashed, while the other 3 left $0 tip for the 17 year old server. Other than the occasional idiot, the first 3 days since reopening had gone well, but clearly, we're getting back to normal.

Wow - only places I've ever heard or seen that kind of behavior are California & Massachusetts.
I'd certainly refuse service to them if they ever return, but they deserve a more physical remedy...

Wow not-a, you seem to have the knack. First the whiners at the Great-clips and then these cretins at Cracker Barrel. Hope your luck changes.

The whiners at Great Clips didn't really bother me, mostly since the receptionist set each of them straight, and the rest of us laughed at them. I didn't witness this at Cracker Barrel today. This happened during my daughter's shift this morning.

Feel bad for your daughter, having to be around folks like that.

What a bunch of jerks. I have been tipping extra, basically double my normal when going out. Hopefully she has better luck going forward.

Surely you can post on some happy experiences that you have witnessed in your life.
Good things happen every day but so many of us focus on the negative. Is that our core human nature? Am I so different from the average person that I see the good when others dwell on the bad? It isn't as if I am a low I.Q. Sling Blade type of guy either although as I understand it, the higher the I.Q, the less optimistic and less humorous one tends to be.
I have seen people out walking their dogs, families on bike rides, people playing in parks, restaurants putting out signs to announce that "Dine-in" service is now offered and to me, it all is great.

Me three! Our local pub has a few girls working there and it's their only job. The manager is a single mom in her 20s busting her ass to make it. We always tip them well but during this mess we upped it a bit. Wife and I have been lucky and our jobs haven't been touched but these servers and such have been hugely impacted.....treat them right! beer

Well, by him focusing on negatives, isn't that another sign things are returning to 'normal'? work no biggrin

A little positivity for today, I went to my favorite park to get out and go for a walk. Part of the reason I like this particular park is that even during holidays the walking trails are never really busy.

Well, today there were a LOT of people on the trails. No complaint from me, I found it kind of refreshing to see people out and about enjoying nature. And here's the REALLY shocking part, a majority of them weren't plugged into their phone! eek Couples were talking to each other, parents were talking to kids.....did I accidentally walk into the twilight zone? nervous runaway

BUT, as much as I hate to admit it, not everything was great at the park. None of the facilities are open yet. Even the porta potties were roped off. I get why they did it initially, but now is it gonna cause more issues not having them available?

Yup, Italian joint here has a special, pizza and a bottle of wine for $30. I saw it on their website so I ordered it and and ran down to pick it up, their online system only caught the bottle of wine I ordered, which was $28 by itself. Also the deal was for a small pizza but since they had just rolled out a medium they gave me that instead and the $28 wine for the $30. The next day I ordered $200 worth of wine from them - places can't afford to be giving stuff away during these times! And their pizza is real Italian / Napoleon style with real ingredients, not that chain crap.

Sucks. I spent too much time in the restaurant business and people can be asses for sure. All of THIS, just gives them an excuse to ramp up what they were probably going to do anyway (stiff the server leave a mess, etc.).

Speaking of messy, don't ever get a server started on people who bring in their young children and cheerios that end up with more in the carpet than in their kid. shout If you do this, please stop forthwith. spank

I can only assume that when they are that messy in a restaurant then they are just as bad at home. Some people are just disgusting.

ANYONE that leaves a mess in their wake at a restaurant is an ass in my book. Construction guys with muddy trucks and boots are even worse than the Cheerios. tsk
