Is it coming from the tailpipes or the speakers?

That road looks like one of the ways that SO CA want to be road racers practice on between Semi Valley and Wrightwood ,CA, same thing on motor cycle riders.
Lots of incidents and future careers ruined on that road whiney

Some folks remove the mufflers going straight pipe thus creating the raspy tone. I changed the mid mufflers on my Scatpack and went with vibrant racebullets. Gives a deeper rumble and will put a smile on your face at WOT but doesn’t quite have that old sound. I suspect the cats on the newer cars don’t really help to get the older tones.

I'm with you, I don't get it either. Not the snap crackle pop fire thing for me, it is irritating to me, and why advertise to all what ever stunts you might think of doing?

However, that is an impressive run on the mountain road, car is flat smooth and fast, and for all I know mostly stock?

Try that in your mostly stock '69 Camaro ... currently (and likely into my future) I am in slow wheels, in the past I have had some fast stuff, but nothing that would handle like that!

Speakers or pipes that's a ridiculous fine for a ridiculous charge. Even more so if they ticketed him with speed cameras ya prancy mounty nancy boys. A terrible use of technology. Fast does not equal reckless and ya can tell he backed down when tire went. Ya never had a flat? Pretty sure Germany would give ya ticket for not moving over if it came up behind.

IF its not just a high tech WAV file played thru the sound system. What does it sound like 20 feet away???

Don't know why, but the new cars just sound weird under deceleration compared to the old stuff.

Non Mopar, but it sounds fantastic on and off the gas.
