San Francisco 1906 video-sharpened/colorized - 04/16/20 07:03 PM

Been around for awhile but this version was sharpened and colorized.
Note: "This is actually a staged shoot, so it's not actual traffic from that time:
– The film records a total of thirty cable cars, four horsecars, and four streetcars. At first there also appear to be many automobiles; however, a careful tracking shows that almost all of the autos circle the camera many times—one of them ten times. This traffic was apparently staged by the producer to give Market Street the appearance of a prosperous modern boulevard with many automobiles."
Still a neat vid.

Must be early 1906 cause in April of 1906 a whopper of an Earthquake hit SF! My grandfather immigrated through Ellis Island in 1903 and headed to SF. He was a mason. Business was VERY good after the quake!

it's 4 days before the earthquake 4/14/1906 - there are a few seconds of the same street after the 4/18 'quake at the end of the video
